50 years ago today, a Monday as well if my memory is right. I was 6 months into my 1st job at Mercantile Credit Co in Holborn. We had to change every account and ledger and 12 into 5 produced problems even with half pences available. Quite a few evenings with overtime were worked that February but we got there and all reconciled on time.

Decimalisation was blamed by many for stealth price rises but it was such a different world back then...

Those were the days that you could challenge goalkeepers physically, Villa beat Man Utd in the 1957 Cup Final after laying out United's keeper early on and Bert Trautmann played on in one with a broken neck...

That was the 56 cup final Man City v Birmingham my sister was born that day
