It was Norman Watt Roy on bass, who still plays with Wilko Johnson who joined the Blockheads at one stage. I saw Wilko and Norman last year, still great. Saw Ian & the Blockheads at the Brixton Academy, must have been about 1991, benefit for the family of the drummer, Charley Charles, who had just died. Think they released it as a live CD, Warts and Audience. Brilliant.

One of my best mates was a neighbour of Dury’s in the old mansion block next to Hammersmith Bridge (North side). A fun but challenging neighbour apparently.

Of course it was Norman Watt Roy. I didn't realise he was playing with Wilco. I can't believe I listed the drummer as Charlie Daniels instead of Charlie Charles! I think Charlie Daniels Band were a country and western outfit who had a hit with 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' in the late 70's/ early 80's.

I can't find that interview.

Very good interview with Bernard Sumner in the Times today. Apparently Curtis was a laugh until he went on medication for his epilepsy, nothing like what you would expect.

Bernard still not talking to Hooky. When the NME compiled it’s top singles of the 80s list, Bizarre Love Triangle was at 9, Love will tear us Apart at 2 and Blue Monday at 1.

It's such a loss. I was just really getting into music at that age, and last year my wife bought me the limited edition 40th anniversary release of Unknown Pleasures for my 50th, and it was my favourite present that I received (but don't tell her, she spent a fortune on other stuff!)

I've seen New Order and Peter Hook and the Light, both great on their own but there's some really bad blood between them that seems pretty unreconcilable.
