Newcastle are considering a move for Velez Sarsfield striker Juan Manuel Martinez.

Nicknamed 'the little donkey', the 25-year-old was a target for Wigan and Blackburn earlier this summer but their interest has waned and Newcastle are now amongst a trio of clubs keen, with Napoli and Sevilla also in the running.

The Argentine international was voted player of the year in Argentina last year.

Talk of the Toon: Juan Manuel Martinez could swap Velez Sarsfield for Newcastle

I find this strange as they already have Shola Amadonkey, how many donkeys do they want, or are they going to set up rides on the beach

The donkey's are for their Allo allo boys, to travel around the cobbled streets of Byker selling onions and garlic...
