some of my family went to the paras last week. Their ten pound tickets gave them free rail travel to london and access to several events. They enjoyed the experience and having been there they quite rightly have a view that is worth putting forward.
The adults where blown away by the sports, to a level that they would now go to other events and would even follow a local team in go ball and basket ball.
The kids came back with not just an interest in the sport, but with a better understanding of disability issues..
Both parents and children came away with pride, proud to be british and proud of sport.
My grandson is football and cricket mad. Now he wants to look at other sports. At nine years of age his sporting hero has changed from lambert (southampton) to mo farah.
This is a family that spends 5k a year either watching or playing sports. They will increase that spend now.
F they are reflective of just half of one percent of the country, the interest going forward in all sports will benefit the country as a whole.
My mate carried the flame, the boost to his self confidence, has given him a new lease of life.
To dismiss the games as a waste of money is a narrow view. Sport is vital to the modern social framework. It encourages team work and the work ethic.
I and so glad that we won the bid, so proud of britian and i believe that whatever the final bill, the games have been worth every penny.
