Another extravagant waste of ****ing money! Someone else said early doors on a sister board that "Both the Olympics and Paralympics should have been run together.

    - One opening ceremony.
    - One set of security guards/soldiers.
    - One false appearance from our ****er of a PM and his ugly horse faced wife!
    - One closing ceremony.

I agree with the joint ceremonies idea.

The fact that the Paralympics are separate only emphasises the point that they're "different".
Then again, they might feel as if they're losing their identity of paralympians if they're put together.

Goddamn it I'm arguing both sides again!

I don't mean put together as such just run at the same time, It would have taken more planning but why two opening and closing ceremony's? Especially in the current economic climate? Anyway **** the olympics they can get ****ed along with Oasis Egypt, Cameroon and Bob spunking Bradley!

    Hehehehehhehehehe

some events can run totally side by side with the olympics .
say any event in a wheelchair and their team events for example as there is no equivalent .
There wouldnt need to be a classification either .

it would be a great idea imo

Cannot for the life of me understand why people subscribe to this view. Yes it cost alot, but how much are we making in return due to the increase in tourists? I was there for two days inbetween both ceremonies and the shopping centre nextdoor was rammed both days as an example.

At what cost do you put on pride, London 2012 has brought a nation together and seen some truly outstanding super human perofromances from olympians and paraolympians. The whole idea about having two events is that anyone with a disability may be labelled as that but they can show their talents at their own games to show the world that having a disability doesn't mean you can't do things any able bodied person can.

As for the games, one medic volunteer said that he was on duty at 7/7 and these games provided him with closer as he had seen the best and worst of human nature in our capital.....how can that be classified as a waste of money? a big **** you to the terrorists etc.

rather hypocritical when we all support a football team in a sport that greed and waste of money go hand in hand. why not celebrate the games for what they are, rather than worrying about the cost, not everything can be judged by money. Money pumed into one of the most derpived parts of the country as well, socially those people in hackney wil lreep the benefits of a country prepared to offer such an amaziong summer of sport.

Some of my family went to the paras last week. Their ten pound tickets gave them free rail travel to London and access to several events. They enjoyed the experience and having been there they quite rightly have a view that is worth putting forward.
The adults where blown away by the sports, to a level that they would now go to other events and would even follow a local team in go ball and basket ball.
The kids came back with not just an interest in the sport, but with a better understanding of disability issues..
Both parents and children came away with pride, proud to be British and proud of sport.
My Grandson is football and cricket mad. Now he wants to look at other sports. At nine years of age his sporting hero has changed from Lambert (Southampton) to Mo Farah.
This is a family that spends 5k a year either watching or playing sports. They will increase that spend now.
F they are reflective of just half of one percent of the country, the interest going forward in all sports will benefit the country as a whole.
My mate carried the flame, the boost to his self confidence, has given him a new lease of life.
To dismiss the games as a waste of money is a narrow view. Sport is vital to the modern social framework. It encourages team work and the work ethic.
I and so glad that we won the bid, so proud of Britian and I believe that whatever the final bill, the games have been worth every penny.

oh good. I take it that its all over now and we can have our lives back? The cynic in me is saying that all the Olympics achieved was that it diverted attention from what a piss poor job successive governments have done and what a divided mess the country is still in.

on the other hand like so many others have said The Olympics have inspired people to get up and do something. In junior's case he has detached himself from the XBOX. First, having watched the archery he had a go, got hooked, joined a club and won a competition. now a competition bow is top of the wishlist instead of the latest Assassins Creed or Mortal Combat.

Then he dug his skateboard out, spent a lot of time restoring it and is now doing something active with his spare time instead of vegetating. The time he took finding out how to restore it has shown him how to research & study better than any teacher could so I have high hopes it will help his schooling.

Thought it was amazing some of the events were inspiring. The lad who lost his dad a few months ago brought a lump to my throat. And one armed butterfly!! FFS how do you do that.

Just hate seeing the politicians get the their weasly faces on tv. Cringed when Cameron said the word legacy.

Whenever you see the yank politicians, Obama,Clinton, even Bush they actually look like they enjoy it and know about it. Our lot look like they've never played any sport in their life or have the least interest in it.

He actually sold it for 4000 , using the money to put towards his election campaign fund. He is standing as a conservative candidate. He actually made more money selling his opening cermony tickets that he was given by the NHS. Mind you it did not stop him using the Savoy suite that came with them for himself.
