Nevermind the Olympics, can we really enjoy Sport any more with all this doping business hanging over everything like a damn great black cloud? Deutsche Welle's Joscha Weber makes good points in this article, particularly: "This is because the fact that 271 Russian athletes will participate in the Games is a slap in the face to all clean athletes - and they won't forget this." The IOC have shown a distinct lack of guts in dealing with this? http://www.dw.com/en/opinion-false-start/a-19450723 The Yanks, in particular, seem to get away with murder with respect to doping. Heck, they even had a state-of-the-art lab to produce near impossible-to-detect (at that time) drugs. Jamaica? Not exactly Mr. Clean. As previously mentioned above, the UK do not cover themselves in glory either, with more than a couple of their star athletes 'missing' scheduled checks in recent years. The Germans? Well, the old GDR (DDR) had doping down pat, this to support the State religion in those days, namely, "track and field athletics". Anyway, good luck to the many clean athletes competing. It is a shame they cannot be listed with absolute certainty?
Anyone staying up for Peaty Gold? Should be done...1/100 with the layers. God bless the BBC trying to make a race of it...hopeless coverage.
Wonder is it easier getting shagged as a world record holding Olympic gold medal winner.. ..Or walking naked on your veranda naked like the Cyc fella...much of a muchness..all about exposure..
Set the alarm and got up for it. Stem from something of a swimming family but this Adam Peaty is something else. I mean, clear water between first and second over 100m, apart from another world record? Incredible, would not have missed this for the world. Don't think I'll be able to get back to sleep! (Oh, I hit the mute button, these commentators/moderators in any language are just too much for me).
Huge congrats to Micheal Phelps, probably the greatest swimmer of all time. As part of the fantastic 4x100 outfit that just won the gold medal, Phelps took his Olympic golds to 19. How amazing is that 19 gold? 7 time World Swimmer Of The Year.
Looking forward to the cross-country phase of the Eventing this afternoon. GBTeam times as follows: Gemma Tattersall goes at 14.23 William Fox-Pitt at 15.39 Pippa Funnell at 17.05 Kitty King at 18.21
Heat 2. Defending champions Germany easily win, but GB looked a bit better. They should finish 1-2 in the 8s in a couple of days. GB should start favourite.
There will be no betting on Sports Personality of the Year – it usually goes to a gold medallist in an Olympics year. Sure he will pass the drugs test after breaking the World Record twice in two swims. There will be grannies up and down the country throwing their grandkids in the local swimming pool this weekend and telling them to get swimming so they can be famous on Twitter!
You won't believe this, QMII (and I wouldn't blame you), but my old dad chucked me in the old swimming pool when i was about 3-years-old. Same for my young brother when he reached that age. Just like Canadians with skating, I honestly do not remember learning to swim, neither does my kid brother! It was my father's lifelong disappointment that neither of us two got remotely near the swimming standard he attained in life. Ah well....
My 'mute' button is starting to work overtime, Oddy. Now it's ARD's turn for a day or two, and I just cannot stand this twerp Gerhard Delling, never could. He just won't go away...............
There will pal and it 'll be red hot. Murray, Hamilton , Root and some of the England Rugby team. That's not including whichever track and field athletes win gold medals !
Radio 5 Live is much better than the TV. They don't tell you you are watching something that finished 5 hours ago
