SPOTY – forget the Olympians and the Paralympians.

It has to be ALISTAIR BROWNLEE.

His brother Jonny is ahead of him in the final race of the Triathlon World Series but is out on his feet with heat exhaustion, staggering in what looks a losing battle to even make it to the finish.

Alistair is closing on him and does not think twice about his own prospects in the race but goes to help his brother struggle across the finishing line.

That surely makes him the Sports Personality Of The Year.

What a shame that they won’t play “Two Little Boys” when he walks out to accept the trophy... :emoticon-0138-think

Yes. Disgraceful scenes QM. His brother needed immediate medical attention and the hero decided to lay a marker down to his own Cool Runnings movie. All fine and dandy now though. Idiot of the year for me.

Apparently Alistair said that getting him to the finish line meant he got medical attention faster - if Jonny had collapsed at the side of the road they would have had to wait for a message to get to the finish line and for the medics to run down the course to treat him as there are no medics stationed in the final portion of the course.
