Arsenals old Invicta Ground. They had left by the mid 1890's but this terracing in some back gardens remain.

That's Hector Rd in Plumstead. I know it well as that's what got me into supporting Arsenal. My Gran and Grandad used to live in Charlton and we used to go over there on Saturdays, and I'd hang out with the next door neighbour's grandson. He lived on Hector Rd and I'd go down to his house and play football in his garden. We used to celebrate goals in front of those old terraces knowing it was part of an old football ground. I didn't really realise the significance of its historical value at the time. But his Dad told me that it was part of Arsenal's old ground and that was it, I was an Arsenal fan from that moment <ok>

Fratton park in 1899, there's nothing there!

It's so weird, within 10 years the whole of that area was built on, with housing for dockers etc; as the town grew at a rapid pace, before WW1

Note the old pitch markings, as per the rules back then.
