Other than the goal v Newcastle, didn’t think kerkez been too bad. Not great, still needs to develop an understanding with gakpo out wide as he’s making a lot more inside runs which is where gakpo likes to go and just congesting things. If makes that inside run needs to get beyond early so he takes player with him beyond the line to free up space. The dive was stupid and hopefully as he was subbed off for that reason (crowd hoping for a 2nd yellow on every foul) he’ll realise not to do it again.

I think Robertson has things to offer and maybe even has an extra fire now having lost his place after 7 years of undisputed number 1. Certainly helps when he comes in as he’s gone alongside vvd Grav and gakpo who were the core of that left hand side last year as well
You're right he hasn't been bad at all. I think, for me, it boils down to Kerkez maybe trying too hard to impress. He will gradually find his groove.

On Robbo think he will benefit from not playing week in week out
we have to remember how many new players we are trying to integrate into the team all at the same time so link up play etc will not be as fluent as in the past but hopefully will be soon.
.... and if it isn't, we'll just bring on Ngumoha and Frimpong to liven things up. That passage of play that eventually led to the penalty started with a pass from the youngster to Frimpong that was simply sumptuous.

I think kerkez is hard to read. Wtf is he thinking kind of thing.

Yes slot has to trust him.and he did at home.v arsenal.

However away I dont think he really believes the lad sees the risk.

Until they have that trust he will probably sub him

Ideally kerkez will prove less impulsive as he settles bit let's talk reality. Robertson has done plenty of dim things over time.

I wouldn't want to take that edge off him. As you say, Robbo has it, as did Mane as well on that left-hand side, and the two could be brutal together sometimes. I was exasperated with Kerky though, yesterday, because of that needless dive. There's no need to apologise about going down when you're dragged back in the box - i can think of tens of occasions when Mo didn't get a pen because he tried to stay on his feet when some defender had both hands wrapped around his ****ing waist, and neck, sometimes. But he had a cross on there before he went down, and he was never getting a pen for being bumped, at most, as he was yesterday.

Kerkez has the benefit of being used to the league. He's played against all the same teams before except Burnley obviously, so he knows well how certain players play and how the refereeing goes. He just needs to calm down and focus, it's well within his capabilities. He was in 2025 team of the year wasn't he?

I agree. He had an edge to him, and he's going to get sent off from time to time, but I think Bradders will as well. He's still top. top quality going forward, as he proved for Bournemouth on numerous occasions. I'm getting Alan Kennedy, Barney Rubble vibes from him. :emoticon-0165-muscl

yes i mentioned that pass after the game .

we should not over use Rio though . just small cameos with gaps between games this season seems sensible

He absolutely does. He's got the exuberance of youth together with not being in awe of any of the players around him that's exciting to watch.

Also the type that, I said during the game we might have needed, that can get a lucky deflection while running st someone and ball bounce nicely. Or wins a penalty with a bit of tricky. Something different from the constant pass pass pass.

think Ekitiki has similar in his willingness to run at defenders and take them on .

Agreed. He's different to any player we currently have which is nice so he's not going to be called 'the next x y or z'.

Tbf Wirtz has nearly scored twice now with powerful low shots which obviously doesn't get you any points but it shows that he knows which positions to take up. Keep it up and one will eventually go in and then another and another.

He's still getting used to the physicality of the league and where he fits in to the team. As already noted, he's getting in Macallister's way but it will sort itself out the more games they play.
It’s 4 games
It’s bonkers stuff that’s coming out, many players have gone on to be stars after poor starts
Henry was one
De Gea was awful with no inclination of what was to come
Not saying Wirtz will be a success but to deride him so early on is crazy
and whilst I am on it Salah
I am one who thinks he is immune to being taken off
However this is nothing new
to me the guy still looks like the death of Jota weighs heavily on his mind
We are winning with an almost unheard of pressure (no idea if that’s the correct word) on the team

scary watching us but Vs Burnley we were dominant
Vs Arsenal - tbf we were excellent

it’s four games in
Tons of time for stuff to go wrong yet that we can debate
