A center forward not good enough for us but doing well for Sweden, along with Seb, who often plays right back for them, both positions we are so weak in, could they have done a job for us or did they just not suit our style of play. He He

Ola is a cracking player, but when Dick walked so did his commitment(The difference between his debut where he was unplayable to the following games when Dick quit are just a million miles from each other). Just another prick like Lens or Khazri who sulked when the manager who signed them left.

    Seb is rubbish.

At the end of the day they're two up against Luxembourg, A league two player would be laughed at for struggling against them.

At the end of the day they are 8-0 up.

Agree with all your comments, just found this particular turn of phrase amusing. Seb lost it when he suddenly became terrible at set pieces - I can understand getting physically slower and perhaps even mentally slower if you just aren't as hungry to succeed any more but going from begin genuinely very good at free kicks to pretty pathetic is an odd one. I reckon Zidane can still take a decent free kick nowadays.

Yes he did, a remarkable goal, last nights wasn't bad either, but as with a lot of these players they seem to look better when not wearing our shirt, I always like to watch our failures to see how the get on after they leave, Ola's passing ability is second to none imo but he lacks sharpness and this let him down whehe was here. If the team are not doing well most of these imports will loose interest and want to be off, I would myself tbh. <ok>

I said when he signed he's hard working but only within zone as he's not very mobile. Part of biggest problem in recruiting is signing players on cheap price and availability then expecting them to be something else. Perhaps more of these players would have done better had we played to their strengths. Take Ola, Playing him midfield in this league was beyond stupid(Ok in slower less demanding leagues). He played one games as Support Striker and tore the place to bits, was than dropped back to midfield and was completely out of his depth.

Toivenen didn’t lack ability, he massively lacked the stamina for the league.

He could have been very good but he was never gonna be able to do the leg work.

    Shame.

We played him CM though, something i'll never ever understand. Put him has a target man and he'll put cbs through the mill for 90mins. He wouldn't have needed the legs.

Not like us to totally overlook a players strengths and make them look like a League 13 player....

He would have been fine if Dick had hung around. He was never going to be an Allardyce kind of player though. Which is why I always thought Allardyce was a strange appointment after Advocaat's recruiting of players.

I was a bit dubious about starting this thread, as I was not a particular fan of Ola, but watching him carry the mantle in Zlatans absence in the Swedish team and not looking overawed one bit made me watch him closely last night, and he really covered every blade of grass, all be it at his own pace, but his eye for a pass in tight situations in and around the penalty area was top notch, and this he showed this in his time here, which you obviously observed. Your assessment of him and the misuse of talented players at SAFC is very much in line with my thoughts. <ok>

He reminds me of Quinn in a lot of ways, great touch, great eye, great with the ball played into his feet and dominant in the air. Just lacks any pace, much like Quinny.

As much as I rated Sam's effect on us he would have walked after being told there was **** all to spend. In a parallel universe where he could have bought the likes of M'Vila and cracked on with more quality signings yeah I think we'd have been around the top ten in theory.
