Thanks both, that's pretty much my understanding of the situation.

There's nothing official and a lot of rumours. I'm just not prepared to let people rubbish Bodde and treat him like he's something less than a human because he's a footballer. Bodde isn't property and so we shouldn't treat like it.
 
doey- i understand your point , but at what point does the club look after its own intrests ?? people forget ferrie was ready to jump ship to bolton a few years back and if my memory serves me well also put in a transfer request , something no other player has done in recent history.

the club bent over backwards to give him more money and have looked after him very well , the word is that ferrie bodde is a difficult customer to deal with , the club have done well with out him ,he IMO will take a few years to ever reach the same level again if he recovers from injury .

yes he is a human but dont forget he was ready and ruthless enough to leave us when a better offer came in. some players are untouchable when it comes to the fans ,if it was another player other than bodde that was in the same injury mire he would have been dumped a long time ago.

bodde is property and he was happy to sell himself to the highest bidder when he was fit . the swans have IMO acted above the call of duty with him :)
 
I agree Norway. Whilst I wish Bodde all the best and hope his career is NOT over, Swansea have to be congratulated on the manner that we have supported him. Whilst its all speculation based on my knowledge of similar sporting injury insurance policies and not fact specific to swansea or Bodde - so please don't debate this issue , it is highly likely that his insurance has not covered all costs of treatment and wages considering the length of time he has been out as sporting medical policies are not open ended and have sliding scale rate of returns (e.g. 100% of claim up to certain limits for 1st 12months , 90% for 2nd year , 75% for 3rd etc this is just for medical costs , wage re-imburesment % usually reduce much more rapidly).

The swans have made every effort to assist Bodde back (I suspect mainly due to their feeling of responsibility due to perhaps rushing him back too soon when this first occurred), but we cannot go on indefinately (especially if there is no insurance cover any more to reclaim wages and medical costs).
 
It's that intrigue of not fully knowing how far a fully-fit Ferrie would've developed, which has kept us so full of hope for the fella. We know he was prepared to go 'walkies' when Derby came calling, but when he eventually stayed we soon forgive, due to the special talent we knew we had. Such a shame for him, us fans, the club & true football fans everywhere that probably his 'full potential' might never be witnessed. All the best Ferrie in your continuing battle, let's hope there is some good news soon. He & the club have my full support over this....
 
I will support the club and Bodde in his recovery attempt. It is ultimately a joint decision between the two parties as to when the time comes to call it a day. I hope this doesn't happen , but we must be realistic in not having an open ended situation where he is still attempting the same recovery in another 12 months time. My opinion is that if he is not match fit within the next 6 months he needs to be honest with himself and call it a day.
 
I understand what everyone is saying. I also appreciate how much the club has done for Bodde over the years, especially when it looked like he was ready to leave. Another fact of the matter is that he stayed, and as long as Bodde is a Swans player then he should be treated with the same respect we treat other Swans players.

I'm not denying anything that has been said, i'm just not comfortable with talking about Bodde as though he's somehow disposable on the possibility that he isn't up to the standard we all wanted him to be.

There's a lot of players who look like they could be moving on at one time or another and we forgive them soon enough. Even Taylor and Williams have come close to moves during the summer but as long as their Swans, I think we should treat like it!

He's signed a contract with the swans for a year , we cannot renege in that without the consent of all parties, besides nothing official has come from the club, and vorm in his interview said he's looking forward to playing with us including bodde, so before you make sweeping comments of getting rid of him, let's wait and see, and by the way the boro captain we are in for took as long with 4 ops!
 
true Jager but how long before patience wears thin, as you mention it took one guy four ops, perhaps they are going to the wrong surgeons. having said that i hope he recovers fully and plays a pivotal part in the Swans success this season
 
The fact he is on a pay as you play means not as high a wage as if he was signed up to a full time contract. With our income this year it is a simple loss leader, if he becomes fit then we have him back. If he doesn't make it back this year then unfortunately those that want shot of him will have their way...simples.

Like the board/ BR/ Bodde, we will just have to wait.
