We can't say he's finished - only that he's still not ready. It may well be that he won't play again but we just don't know. If the medics thought he should retire they would have told him and the Club by now and they haven't. I think they probably know a lot more than Daiswan don't you?
Dai when it's on the club website then it's official , until then it's speculation only, sorry like transfer rumours I don't hold much stock in paper talk, and this is a rehash of news weeks ago! And I fail to see how he is costing money , all football players have extensive medical insurance, the club protects itself against players wages should an injury strike, and as he is on a pay as you play contract it's not costing hugely to keep him on the books until all other options are gone.
It would be worth the gamble even if we were paying his wages in my opinion. THE best midfielder ive seen for swansea in 20 years. Fingers and toes crossed
You're such a compassionate guy. I hope nothing bad ever happens to you because I doubt there will be many rushing to help you. What goes around comes around. If Bodde's career was over then I'm sure it would have been announced. I, for one, wish him the best and applaud the club for continuing their efforts to help him.
I don't want to jump on the "Let's all hate Dai" bandwagon... But, sometimes you really give us no option Dai. I find it horrible how you talk about Ferrie as if he is property and isn't a young man with an abundance of talent who got unlucky with his injury. Also that fact that you say things like "what a waste of time and money" is outrageous. None of us knew whether or not he would play again, and neither did the club. It's been a gamble that any of us would have taken, sometimes you gamble and it doesn't pay off. As far as i'm concerned though I haven't seen any direct quote from Brendan, Bodde or the club saying his "career is over" and until we see that then none of us truly know.
i just think if he cant make it after 3 years then he never will, im sorry but im a realist and after the last time he tried and failed after 15 minutes then you have to accept we are flogging a dead horse, dont worry about bodde he has made plenty of money while not playing and we are a buisiness and not a charity...
Dai you have just contradicted yourself though, on the Wrexham thread you want us to act like a charity by giving money away, sorry we are a business and can't just give money away , and on here bodde doesn't cost us anything unless he plays!
no i am not jager there is a world of difference between a player who we have tried to get fit but cant and a fellow welsh football club on the bones of their arse , surely you can see the difference.
jager...and on here bodde doesn't cost us anything unless he plays! If you think that then you dont know much about how things work. so there is bodde training with his team mates or in physio with monk and monk gets wages and bodde gets sod all because he is not playing.. i cannot believe you think that..
You band around the term "realist" as though it is some sort of title. Dealing with facts is not a problem, if you look at most of the people on here they do as well, making them "realists". The difference is that most have base their opinions on the facts available and try to do it with respect... Also, if we're dealing in facts Bodde wasn't taken off with a knee injury against Port Talbot.
yes he was it was noticed at the time and even said on here by someone, we all saw it was his knee even if the club tried to hide the fact. and now all of a sudden they say his knee is not right ....what a surprise....
Oh I do hope this isn't the end of Ferrie. Nothing better that see him splaying the ball over the park. Joy to be hold!
Can someone point me to this article where the club have said Boddes career is over? Maybe we can wrap this debate up then.
Brendan mentioned in a recent interview that he's getting pain in the same knee that he injured, so two and two together scenario. I hope it's only because of the work he's putting in at training.
jager would you work for nothing.. get away from here of course he gets a salary. he dont get bonuses thats all.
Dai come on furnish us with proof that he is getting paid after signing a contract as pay as you play, if he gets anything its his expenses, which equates to not a hell of a lot in footballing terms
ive heard some pay as you play deals include a basic "bottom line " wage . for example 1k a week not playing with an extra 4k a week if he is playing . of course i dont know the facts on this ,but it does make sense , its a loose term anyway, "pay as you play" could very well include training ,physio or anything to do with working under the football club. its open to interpritation in my opinion . as has been rightly pointed out though ,nobody knows the details of his contract. i took massive stick for mentioning a rumour that bodde was finished last year, and that he was considering a legel process for what his people thought was mis management of his injury. i still beleive there was some substance to this and a new deal was part of a bargining or "sweetner " for ferrie. i also pointed out that a return to first team football and full fitness would be a tall order(but one which i still prey will happen) its such a shame he is struggling again but for me its not really suprising . there could well be an insurence policy linked to the club giving him a new contract or something quite un orthadoxed that we have no clue about. if we compare the way ferrie has been looked after to gorka pintado ,it shows we have jumped through many hoops to keep him in the fold (and rightly so as he is a massive talent) obviously gorka isnt in the same class but it does highlight the fact that the swans have tried everything to get him back to full fitness, wheather that is because there were corners cut origionally or they truely beleived he still had it remains to be seen. lets all hope ferrie makes it back, it is possible but i cant see it my self. i think he was finished along time ago. i just hope that im totally wrong ..i really do )
thats right norway he gets a wage but not bonuses. i can imagine huw saying to bodde....hey bodds we will give you a years contract but you will only get paid if you play .....you still have to turn up for training and work with the lads but you wont get any money... yea right......
Whatever he's on, nobody really knows for sure. Does it matter?? not for me!! The most important thing is Ferrie is given all the time he needs, until he fully recovers, or until, the decision is finally made of our worst fears!! He's such a special talent, I feel like pinching myself sometimes, that he really is ours. The close season has given us so much hope with the ongoing reports of his progress. This latest set-back is understandably going to bring the worst fears in us fans'. We can't help it, we idolise him!! Let's stop bickering until we finally know one way or the other. Although for me, it really doesn't look promising....
