Well, a win is a win, three points are three points, and sixth place is a play-off spot. I had us down to get a draw before the match so, scrappy performance aside, we've done better than I, and a few others on here, expected. The losses against Middlesbrough and Derby should highlight the limitations of this squad, but we're clearly punching above our weight in this division (yet again), and notching up some impressive victories recently.
Put simply, I'm surprised we're sixth and maybe some of us, and I include myself in this camp, are being too harsh on Mick, the players, and the club in general. Of course, if we lose our next couple of difficult away games, maybe there will be a sense of getting 'dragged back down to earth' a bit, particularly as this board tends to come alive when we're hitting a bad run of form. Looking at our results, since November, they've generally been impressive and we're looking dark horses for another tilt at promotion this season. Come to think about it, that's a remarkable achievement, considering the lack of investment in this squad and the comparative financial outlay of the dozen clubs around us.
