After a disappointing 1-0 home loss vs overspending and gambling their future Derby County, we host improving QPR ( without a loss in 5 ) A talented squad ( Fer Faurlin Hoilet ) this will be a stern test. Just one win in 9 at home now, definitely our Achilles heal this season ) Infact, be it not for champion away form of late we'd probably be 18th or so ) this HAS to improve. Based on our horrific home form vs a QPR side with 3 draws in 5 a draw would be a popular bet. However, if QPR are missing Austin I have a feeling we may edge this. 2-1 town. I thought we'd lose to Derby and did, likewise I have a feeling we'll win this ) Should be a good gate too as boxing day. COYB.
Cannot even try to argue with that Spanish our home record is bloody hopeless. Seriously needs sorting out.
The good thing is that the next two games after qpr are away, only problem is, they are against 2 teams above us in the league
Thoughts on lineup? People say Fraser was lively off the bench..... surely could be worth a start? What do people make of our frontline. Drop Pitman/Murphy and give Sears a run through the middle?
I think it would be a big ask to have Fraser start on Saturday, three months out is a long time to lose match fitness. You don't want to over do it, especially as we are entering the silly season. As for dropping Murphy/Pitman and playing Sears through the middle, I would normally be inclined to agree with you, but as much as I like Sears, and think he's be excellent this season so far, a lot of his play comes from the wide position, where he sneaks round the back of defenders (who are marking the two forwards) - I think if you stuck him down the middle, he could get crowded out by the centre halves, and won't be as effective. The problem with playing the three (Pitman, Murphy and Sears) every week, is that we are so predictable, and any decent team will now how to play against us. As much as I'm losing faith in him, we need McG back, so as to be able to mix it up a little bit, along with Fraser (and hopefully, eventually, Bishop)
Gerken Chambers Smith Berra Knudsen Douglas AMN Skuse Sears Murphy Pitman And more of the same old ****! Personally I hate both fbacks but he won't change them so..... AMN has lost ability to run at players and has been poor imo! Sears is wasted out wide but won't be played in natural position
Agree re full backs Spanish and have concerns re Sears out wide also - that said - how has he been doing of late? Cutting in from the left I can imagine he could cause chaos at times. Gotta be Fraser for Niles time also. If he's struggling he can come off half time or on 60, I'm all up for him back in. Hyam will surely be back in the squad after being recalled - bit of pressure for Douglas that. Squads definitely has a hell of a lot more depth than last year! If Spanish's line up is right - I think it will be - bench of - Bialokowski / Hyam / Varney / Bru / Niles / Parr + one other I suppose. Oar?
That's actually a relief - liked Parr last season but sorry, this season he's been bloody awful - granted he hasn't been fit enough to perform at full level - but based on parr ( through no fault of his own ) coming on second half in midfield, then I'm actually glad he's not in the squad.
Managed to get out of Boxing Day duties and going to the match today. I'll give a non biased opinion later... I promise Spanish
