Come on - bit of an over reaction. I was amongst the first to show my displeasure in this matter on this board but have concluded there is much more to this than meets the eye. Also Nicky has been naive IMO in dealing with the media, whilst I do believe the Allams have been disappointed with some of the results and performances under NB tenure.

The Allams like other high profile owners (like Mandaric at Sheff Wed) have bitten the bullet and decided to have a change of manager - it worked well at Hillsborough when everyone was criticising him for sacking Megson.

They have sunk £51m of their money into the Club and are in their own rights to do what they feel will be successful for the football club.

As for the players they will soon move on with the whole of the close season to reflect on things.. its a dog eat dog business after all.

The Allams saved the club and spent £millions doing it, they have a right to expect some loyalty, common sense from their high profile manager (call it what you will) they have the right to sack him.
I don't like it but the club will move on and I hope, will be successful. Don't start shouting Allams out whatever you do they might just go and take their money with them. They've had a couple of set backs with the club ,I dont think it would take much for them to say good bye.

Under employment law Nick cannot make a claim. He was not employed in the post long enough. His player contract was ended when he became the manager, with a new contract. He has no entitlement and he will not get any. It may not be right but that is it.

the worst part for me is they've basically labelled Barmby a liar, which I refuse to believe is the case (everyone will make up their own mind because let's face it - we're never going to hear the real truth). In doing so, this could affect his future working life, and quite frankly it's disgusting.

Since when did a manager get sacked and not get compensated?

He has a contract, if it's terminated, then that contract has to be paid off.

He ****ing better be paid off, he's been shafted enough as it is.

I posted myself before that I can't go to a lot of games because I have a disability which affects me from day-to-day so there would be no point me making any statement like that, but I admire people who stick to their principles, can't see it happening though. Too many have the attitude that this is football and thats what happens. Poor Nicky hope he gets another chance somewhere else, what a way to be treated by a club who you have given loyal service to.

On reflection the players will accept this - thjey are contracted to Hull City Football Club and are paid to perform accordingly. If they have any problem with this they can hand in a transfer request (most unlikely these days) and only the Club will decide whether or not to accept this or indeed decide to move them on to a competitor.

To quote Harry Redknapp recently, some players don't even know where the team bus is heading for an away day let alone bother about who's managing the Club.

Official Statement

Following recent speculation in the media Hull City can now confirm that following a brief period of suspension Nick Barmby has today been dismissed from his role as First Team Manager of the Club with immediate effect.

The reason for the dismissal relates to certain comments made by Nick in recent interviews. The comments concerned were wholly misleading and implied that the Board had not made funds available to Nick to strengthen the First Team squad during the January transfer window. Such is not only completely untrue, the comments made by Nick contradicted the Board’s publicly stated position that funds would be made available to Nick during the January transfer window. As stated in previous interviews, the Board accepted every transfer request from Nick and in fact actively encouraged him to strengthen the squad should he feel it was necessary.

The Board consider the comments made by Nick unjustifiably cast public doubt on the honesty and integrity of the Board and its members. The relationship between the Team Manager and the Board is of prime importance to the success of any Football Club. In making the comments Nick made, he completely undermined the trust and confidence that needs to exist between the Team Manager and the Board.

The Club sincerely hopes that its fans will recognise that the decision to dismiss Nick was not taken lightly. The decision was taken following meetings with Nick where he had every opportunity to state his case and make representations. The Club feels that it has treated Nick entirely fairly and in the same way that it would have treated any other employee in the same situation.

Having been prepared to give Nick his first opportunity in football management, and for it to end like this, has been a particular disappointment to the Board.

Notwithstanding the circumstances of this “parting of the ways” the Board wish Nick every success in his future career and thank him for the service he has provided to the Club since his return to his home town in 2004.

The Club can confirm that the search for a new manager will begin immediately.

For me it's rather sad -I think he has a lot of a potential and we need good young English managers (in my view particularly if they were also gifted players) - hope yu appoint Billy Davies - I wanted him for us when Sven left - a man that can definitely create a team that can challenge, even if the owners don't give him much money - as he proved consistently with Forest. If you don't believe what the insiders on here say then I disagree but that's fine.

But what do you suggest was Barmby's motive for saying money wasn't available if it actually was? Why would he make it up?

Sorry Nick but you could and should have kept your mouth shut.

In the offending interview it was Burnsy who asked him directly if money had been available. He didn't directly state that there was no money as such (he said 'we needed to be a bit cuter' and tried to avoid the question) but it was obvious what he meant. It was a live interview so there was no hiding from the question and he had to just try and answer it the best he could do on the spot. If the owners wanted him to lie for them they should really have had some sort of contingency plan for if someone interviewing him figures out what is going on and asks him directly. What did they want him to say in that situation?

As for the football not being good enough, that, like everything else, goes back to not buying players in January.

I really hope you're right but I can't see it. Why would people be queueing up to work for us now? We aren't seen as a big club, we aren't paying big money to anyone, the owners are looking very dodgy when it comes to transfer funds and they are willing sack you the second you make a slight mistake. Out of work managers like McCarthy and Davies aren't poor, they don't need to come here and we don't have Nick to fall back on any more.
