Take out Gerrard and everyone steps up.
Henderson takes much more responsibility and is very good when he does.
This better not finish 2-2 like that Arsenal game (or even worse)![]()

Sometimes these games we seem to step it up anyway.
But with the midfield of Lucas, Allen and Hendo we seem to have bags of energy.
They seem much more capable of the tight, short passing.
Very good Liverpool performance, Spurs have been absolute gash though
Henderson has had the best 45 I've seen from him
I'll be brutally honest with you, I think Lucas is a fairly average DM and has zero positional sense. He needs to be more aware of where the opponents are and stick to his zone. You watch a player like Busquets, and you see his head swivel like an owl, constantly being aware of where the opponents are and anticipating moves. In contrast I rarely see Lucas watch over his shoulders.
He's like a school boy attracted to where ever the ball is. Thus leaving huge gaps behind him. He really has to improve his positioning.

It was something Henry (arsenal) said when he was near the end of his career there, that every would pass to him, even if it wasnt the best option because of who he was. It might be the same with Gerrard. There may be a unspoken pressure that causes problems with the short crisp passing.
