The lotus has looked ok the rest of the week, but I feel they'll be in the space between the new teams and the midfield. I think they may steal a lucky point this year though, especially with the tyres.

I think Lotus will be the most competitive of the new teams, probably by a bit of a margin. I'm hoping they can be at the back end of the midfield, mixing it with the likes of Force India, etc. Maybe pick up points in an accident filled race or with heavy rain? I'd like to think they'll be finishing within at least 3 laps of the leaders, rather than about 6 laps last season. Interesting to hear from Gascoyne that they were the only team in testing producing faster times than last year in the early tests.

Mercedes apparently on mid race fuel, Lotus having reliability issues.
13:59 We have spoken with Norbert Haug, who says Mercedes is yet to run on low fuel.

"So far here we have not run on lighter fuel loads. The decent thing to do is to have a set-up that is like the middle of the race, and then you can roughly guess where you are weight-wise.

Schumacher, 21.268. Where the **** did that come from? I didn't realise it was possible for the cars to go that quick on Pirellis and with no double diffuser. Maybe they've gone for a glory run so Norbert Haug has an easier time of it on Autosport later. It still looks as if they have some serious pace with that update though, encouraging for McLaren as well, it shows how quickly the gap can be bridged.

Update for day 4:

1 Schumacher Mercedes 1m21.268s
2 Alonso Ferrari 1m22.101s +0.833
3 Barrichello Williams 1m22.233s +0.965
4 Heidfeld Renault 1m23.008s +1.740
5 Vettel Red Bull 1m23.012s +1.744
6 Kovalainen Lotus 1m23.437s +2.169
7 Kobayashi Sauber 1m23.845s +2.577
8 Sutil Force India 1m23.921s +2.653
9 Alguersuari Toro Rosso 1m26.014s +4.746
10 Button McLaren 1m26.339s +5.071
11 D'Ambrosio Virgin 1m27.670s +6.402

McLaren seem to be on strike having done just 16laps compared to everyone else's 30ish laps (Ferrari on 40).

Lotus again showing some good pace, their 1:23.4 was on a quali run, but thats got to be close to midfield speed.

Red Bull have only done 8 laps, not sure what they are up to.

Few snippets: Button spent most of the afternoon having a new engine fitted, and Vettel broke down right at the end.

1 Maldonado Williams 1m46.157s
2 Hamilton McLaren 1m47.304s +1.147
3 Rosberg Mercedes 1m47.757s +1.600

Very very wet.
I would have thought that the teams not testing today would be jealous of todays teams collecting data in the wet, but the general chat is they were happier with the 4 dry days.

Good to get data from different conditions, being brave has done them some good.

AMCODOTG there are more than just Mclaren on the grid. I have respect for all teams and drivers as im a true F1 fan and always have been and I just cant wait to follow the first action of 2011. I guess you fairweather fans will never understand F1

Could someone please explain to me what AMCODOTG means? I am new to this site and have no idea what it means.
