I've liked that post but don't agree with everything he's saying.
The atmosphere and pride still exists with the away following imo.
The home supporters have to take their share of blame, even when we're doing well it can be a bit flat.
Owners, managers, coaches and players come and go ...
... it's up to us to create an atmosphere, not just respond to what's happening on the pitch.
We were usually pretty poor at Roker Park but the crowd was almost always up for it.
Must say away atmospheres have been poor this season, every time I’ve been anyway. Someone done a tier list of away fans to visit their ground, how much they sung etc and they had us about 16th/17th iirc. Can’t remember which team it was now though.
Bang on though it’s up to us to create an atmosphere. Too many groans when we first concede, not enough people around the ground bothering to even try and make atmosphere then you have the south stand constantly singing about Newcastle which is embarrassing in itself.
