Sadly the club has a problem with Robert Holmes, ticket office, who is really letting the club down. This is the text of an email just sent to RAWA. David Bruce needs to be made aware before a lot of supporters encounter real issues. Dear RAWA Just an update for you. One of my friends has been down to the ticket office today and has been advised that no applications for physical cards are being accepted after 3rd May 2024 at the strict instruction of Robert Holmes. It appears, from my personal experience and the experience of friends, that Mr Holmes is trying to prevent as many fans as he possibly can from attending games.
It needs to be however anyone wants/needs to attend they can, including a cash turnstile for the old fella in a pub who might spur of moment want to go half two on a Saturday
Travelling, as an exile, for fifty years I've met all kinds of people going to games ... ... people on holiday in the area, service personnel on leave or posted at Catterick, etc, those visiting NE relatives, lads on stag weekends, foreigners wanting to see an English football match, exiles back for a funeral, etc etc etc. Some of those have been bitten by the Sunderland bug and returned, some infect their kids who come as well How will they get into games now?
Exactly mate, football is a business now i dont necessarily always like....what kind of a business puts obstacles in the way to purchase their produce. Maybe this Holmes bloke should go on dragons den pitch his sales plan & ask how he can make his product easier to buy......his next role after safc will be selling hydrogen fuel cell cars or something the like without the means of purchasing the fuel
Really impressive and interesting interview with Bruce that. Clear his heart is in the club which is a bonus, but his reputation in his field is key. Looking forward to seeing the progress he can make over the next couple of years on the off field side.
Don't know Bruce personally but I know a bloke who does. Says he's a top, top bloke. He was the first person to take him to America and Bruce told him then and there he was going to make it over there. Fair play to the lad, he made a massive success for himself. Now he's came back home and wants to do the best for the lads. Don't get me wrong Davison is a lads fan, and I'm sure he tried his best, but Bruce has came from an elite level position. Good luck to the lad
Need a bit advice....probably a daft question tbh. I haven't been to a home game for quite a few years now for various reasons, have no purchase history, or any kind of membership number. Nothing. This season I'm hopefully looking to get to a few games, emphasis on the word hopefully. Can I just purchase a ticket online, with no history....would I need to set up an account? I honestly have no idea, the last time I went I just called into the ticket office and bought a ticket. Not as close now to do that, so would need to purchase online.
I've just sent you the best contact mate. Having said that, someone on here will either advise you or sort out tickets ... ... people on here are generally spot on.
You'll have to register/set up an account . . . . do that anyway, but if it's just for single tickets I'll usually be able to help, Snaggey
Just adding my tuppence. I think they would give you a customer / membership number when you first buy a ticket online. Then that would be your number. If your first game is just a regular one then I’m betting you’d be fine. The games that you need a purchase history before buying a ticket will probably be the likes of Boro and Leeds.
@Smug in Boots, @Gordon Armstrong, @Robertson. Thanks for that, much appreciated. . I've registered/set up an account, and now got a number, and email confirmation from tickmaster. Ha'Way the fixture list.....
May have been mentioned before but just seen a tweet by Harvey advertising an AOL junior coaching vacancy. Is that really his role to do that?
Just gets more eyeballs on the vacancy considering Harvey is very well known in the industry. If a top notch coach applies because they seen the vacancy through Harvey then thats job done.
Yes, all he's doing is posting a vacancy within the club he's a senior staff member for. The vacancy is on the club website as well.
I’d expect this to happen, so it’s seen by as many eyes as possible. I don’t work in HR at my place of work but I share vacancies we post on my LinkedIn.
