I've got a mate in Hong Kong who insists on taking to me to his favourite restaurant, which specialises in Pigeons feet.

After that, pig arse seems quite appealing.

We have a member that is PattyNchips and now a post about Scotch Eggs and Sausage Rolls!!
Im starting to feel Home sick now!! :(

Can anyone post them out to Canada for me??

You could always pop over to Toronto, where the King Henry's Arms Pub(at Yonge Street and 14th in Richmond Hill), apparently has Scotch Eggs, Ploughman's Lunch, Melton Mowbray Pie, and Steak & Kidney Pie's. <ok>

Mmmmmmm There are alot of English pubs in Calgary but the food is just not the same!
There is a Bulk Barn and that has some English food now like Heinz Piccalilli and English Wine Gums!

The English/Irish bars in Hong Kong manage to make most of their traditional English/Irish fayre taste strangely Chinese.

There used to be a Mexican restaurant in Hong Kong that managed to make everything taste even more Chinese than the Chinese restaurants(it didn't last long).

I've never been to Calgary, but I've been to Montreal several times, there's some great restaurants there(though no scotch eggs that I can remember).

I just asked my Canadian GF if she new anywhere that has Scotch eggs, sghe looked at me as if i had 2 heads! lol
Something else to add to my Christmas list, that one will keep her busy!

Apparently, there's a store called Best of British in Cambridge, Ontario, that does great scotch eggs, if she starts driving now, she should still be back by Christmas. <ok>

There's an Scottish butcher, Orr's on Quadra in Victoria, and they make their own Steak and Kidney pies, Scotch Eggs, Sausage Rolls, Black Pudding, Bangers etc....I go there every couple of weeks to stock up. Strongly recommended.

Patties ...... i was once horrified to see White City Chippy selling patties in breadcrumbs and looking a lot like fish cakes in size/shape.
then i was in Bob Carvers and the guy in front of me was agast at being asked if he wanted either a patty in breadcrumbs or batter !
I said - a patty in breadcrumbs isnt a patty , she said thats their original style and the batter covered patty came later

i left shellshocked and erm bamboozled ...... with a patty butty (and scraps)

Surely the sausage meat that makes scotch eggs can't be that different from the meat that makes sausage rolls?

I'm pretty sure it's all bum hole, hoof and bollocks but I still like a warm
sausage roll with HP sauce.

Exactly!!! Its the same meat used in both
If its bought Id go sausage roll if its home made Id go scotch egg

Ive gone for a bacon butty today (hangover day 2 needed to bring in the heavy guns).

Does anybody else remember breakfast slices? My mum used to buy them from Heron or Kwik save, like a sausage slice thing that you fried.

The scots go one further and call it square sausage, which makes much more sense.

I know a breakfast slice as sausage bacon and beans in a pastry slice - and loads of places do them
