Well my post went some way to justify why the burning of the cathedral is indeed very funny. And why it’s a shame there’s more of it left than a smouldering pile of rubble.

Its OK you can keep your money in your pocket they have already got 300 million Euro donated from 2 rich Frenchies.

I wonder if they told them to keep the change?

The real irony about these donations and fund raising, is that the organisation who’s church it is, is the wealthiest entity on the planet.

Which was mentioned in my post that got deleted.

French in asking for Global Assistance shocker!!!!

I wonder if they'll open it up for sponsorship....

Maybe they'll use the change to help the homeless in Paris.

Might I suggest they follow our example here in Hull

a) hold more beer festivals
b) get an adjoining drop in centre / cafe with glass roof
c) get a lass in as vicar
d) get a name change away from the original religious one and make it more modern sounding and inclusive, i.e. drop Notre Dame and get 'Maison de tout le monde'

For the most part that wealth is merely on paper. All the church buildings and properties and art works and ancient manuscripts, etc. are worth untold billions of Euro, but who is going to buy Chartres? Who is going to buy the Sistine Chapel ceiling? As for operating capital, the Vatican runs at a deficit.

There’s a reason they’re the wealthiest and most powerful organisation on the planet. Not because they run at a loss, but because nobody can question them. They do not operate at a deficit, there is trillions in money and assets hidden away in the Vatican and it’s top secret bank which it’s well known is used for hiding and laundering the illegally obtained loot on behalf of the global elite.

Don’t be foolish.

Tell that to Roberto Calvi and the Vatican Bank.
