It was a very steely place if you like it.

It’s always difficult to pass judgement on areas to live Jonny, as everyone has different thoughts and expectations. As a Town Centre, it is losing its character as the original shoe making industry has gradually disappeared. The shopping centre isn’t great, but as a town it has everything beeddd and the surrounding areas are lovely. If you are a real London boy, it may seem quiet.
Some of the older properties in an around the old racecourse have a lot of character and the university has a campus near there.
Personally the town centre isn’t my cup of tea, however the town does have some very good restaurants.
Do you have kids?
We certainly can have a Saints meet up and a beer to welcome you here.
I lived in Nether Heyford for 12 years which was a very pleasant village with a couple of decent pubs and importantly schoolsThanks FLT - that's very helpful as it goes - much approeciated
We are in London but we have had enough... have been stuck here for too long and yes 2 very young kids
My partner has family in Daventry so we are up that way a lot.
I think the surrounding countryside is really nice - places like Little Brington and Flore, Norton etc and the village pubs I really like a lot too.
I was thinking the town itself for the train and there are some nice houses that seem good value to me
I am told the Ye Olde England pub on the western side of the old race track is good for an ale and for that meet up !!
I'll keep you posted !
Cheers mate

My wife’s auntie and uncle live there and like it a lot.

Might need to press you on that...
Yep.
Some nice villages around Northampton. I live in Blisworth, just SW of Northampton.
Just outside the town is sensible if you will commute on the train each day. Lots and lots of new houses going up too all over the county. I’d choose Northampton over Daventry for sure.
Let me know if you come up for a scout around and I’ll try and be available to show you about the area.
Indeed it is, Brixworth on the north side is rather nice too but more difficult to get to SMS from up there ... LOLYep.

I had a great aunt and uncle who lived in Market Harborough, which is just inside Leicestershire, so if you can´t get anything in Northampton, then check out MH.
You should send her up to visit them. I’ll look after her![]()
