I don't know what it is but after following the lads for 60 yrs, 30 yrs a season ticket holder I just can't get excited about this coming season. I have not even watched a friendly yet.
The only thing I can put down to is the time in the 3rd division has sucked the enthusiasm out of me.

This is a big season for us
We can judge weather we are on the way up or not quite just there

That's sad mate. Fair doos for your commitment but we have new owner, new structure, very decent manager, players who want to be here, young players etc etc etc.

Don't really know what else to say. I'm very excited.

I’m excited and can’t wait for this season I really expect us to be in the playoffs tbh
Think playoffs is a bit much mate. Would be great but I think it’s too early for us this year, just need to consolidate and stay up.

Hope everyone still backing the lads if we are nowhere near the top half. Our team is largely the same as that which finished 5th in League 1. There have been teams that blew that league away and then struggled when they came up. Gonna be interesting, who knows with so many young lads, they might really step up and blow us away.

no pressure from me, I'll be happy to see our young squad finish top half, with a visible improvement through the season, and maybe some cup fun. That'll do me, I hope the 'instant success arseholes' stay at home, and give the new regime a season to develop. HTL

The thing is, football is totally pointless.

If it stopped tomorrow, forever, life would just carry on as normal.

If you arrive at a point, in your life, when that thought becomes predominant then there may be no going back.

Old age and imminent death, Covid, climate change, NHS breakdown, cost of living/dying can suddenly seem much more important than footie ...

... in my case I've always considered going to the match as a diversion from real life, not part of it.

It's a day out driving to somewhere I'd never otherwise visit, meeting up with mates I'd never see otherwise and singing out loud in public.

If those three things no longer apply I can see your dilemma ...

i get ya I just feel we’re in a bit of a fade position really as I expect an to have blew the league away if he was in charge a few games more never mind a full season.

we’ve got a great manager and a great set of young up and coming players with more to come imo so we’ll excited

I agree Noz, I see this season as a season of consolidation, no hidings plus steer clear of relegation with games to spare and I will be a happy bunny.

Fair enough mate. Nowt wrong with that at all.

You don't have to go to follow the lads, and my God, certainly not after all that time!

Just keep following from a distance, there's a lot of fun in that anarl.

You'll end up going back mind!!

Got my season ticket.
Might be just a case of being wary of having the carpet pulled away again.

Far to profound for me that.
All I know is I don't feel as excited as I used to. Probably a case of done it, seen it and sick of been kicked where it hurts.

I'm really looking forward to this season. We're not back in the Premier League yet, but it's within sight, and we've got a young team with potential to improve, so what's not to look forward to. First thing this season is to try and see where we will sit in the Championship. I don't think that we'll be competing to finish at the top end of the league just yet, but also I don't think we should be dragged into a relagation struggle either. However, until we've played a few games, it's dificult to be confident what we'll do. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

You'll have had your season ticket through the double relegation then sat through 4 years of rancid ****. "Heard it all before" kind of feeling. There's a massive difference between optimistic and realistic and I think you fall into the latter mate. I tend to agree that after sitting through the past 5 years, something is missing.
