I agree I don't think it was about results, especially with all the injuries we have... defiantly more to it....

Results would have played a part for sure (2 wins from 7), performances as well, not been great (even before the injuries), and how outspoken he's been of the board. Imagine if all those things happened from management in your company, what would you do? I know football isn't quite the same, but some on here seem blind to some of the hard facts here.

I said a few months ago, I think Nige has engineered his own exit. He wasn't given money, a small squad and no new contract, what were his options, speak out and force their hand, or stick with a potentially sinking ship and his credibility as a manager takes a huge hit if we were potentially to be relegated. It seems he may have chosen the former option....

That’s Hobsons choice , that’s why I sad he was stitched up,
Look I support BCFC, not any given manager, my annoyance is because for us to progress as a club we need to be well run and pulling together, I don’t think they’ve done that recently. There’s no point setting someone up to fail, you’re wasting their time, and more importantly our time. If they wanted Nige our months ago grow some and do it. Don’t pretend one thing whilst behind the scenes be doing another.

LJ was given longer, and was backed, not just financially. Much of NP’s tenure has involved clearing up the mess he took over. He’s not been backed financially, certainly this summer since the sell of Scott, and he’s been constantly undermined. Why didn’t they give a proven manager more time than a relative rookie?

Backed financially. Its a worse squad than last season. Top six??? No way. With signings from the Semenyo Scott money it may have been. Fully fit squad top ten?? I think so but at the moment the mad injury list is a real problem and there ain’t many teams that could sustain that many injuries in key positions with a squad as thin as City's. Giving LJ all that time and all that money was madness when measured against whats going on now.

The football I see that we are good at is high press, defending from the front, we have the quick players to do it.....We are also better at one/two touch close quarters, not good at playing long ball suicide passing, 90% of the time this is giving the ball away allowing opposition possession... Defending is one of our weaknesses along with not actually being able to put the ball into the net.. Also our high tempo game is a positive with the players we have..
Spells of the above produced our best football but as soon as we back off, we are all over the place and lose control of the game..
LJ did try, but there were only certain players capable, when we had injuries to key players, the style he wanted to achieve failed..

Sorry but that is nonsense? Lee Johnson signed players who were incapable of playing a high tempo pressing game. These players included Famara who was virtually an ever present in Lee Johnsons team. Famara lacked defensive tactical intensity and his recovery post explosive movement was woeful, hence a why City went into a mid block when out of possession with Famara in the team. Recruiting players, and Famara was a key player in LJ's team who lack the basic keystone abilities is not trying to implement a high pressing game.

In contrast Nigel Pearson has never been given anywhere near the same financial support. In contrast Nigel Pearson has done a consistent job with entirely differing circumstances. Mr Pearson has been starved of resources in comparison to the inconsistent and wasteful Johnson. The lack of support doesn't add up. That turning off the resources looks personal and not being for the good of the club.

Again, hindsight, many on here lauded the signings, and a lot on here said we would be top 10 this season (check the poll RR put up). Now Nige has been fired, it's all the squad's $hite, how were we supposed to compete...... Have some realism guys. You can't compare the pre-COVID days with now, that pandemic changed the face of football finaces outside the PL. You can accept it, or continue to whine about it, but tit won't change the reality.

Your still dragging on with the covid line. The reality was that BCFC had to sell players pre covid as the club was going to breach FFP. Boom and bust selling has been a feature of how Mr Lansdown runs BCFC. McInnes/SOD also managed in periods of far reaching significant cost cutting that Lee Johnson did not.

Did any of those predicting top ten predict it minus ten/eleven injured players? No.

That is not the manager's fault though. FFS. I know people on here love to bash LJ, but it wasn't his fault, you just said so yourself. Comparing then and now is just not a relative comparison, but you carry on crying into your food over the past.......

Fammy was frustrating but he was our top scorer when we finished higher in the league than we ever did under Mr Pearson.

Bristol City Supporters Club criticise Nigel Pearson sacking and send message to Steve Lansdown
"Never before have we had a manager who has been so fundamentally instrumental in positively changing the mentality, the culture, and the togetherness of the whole football club"

Even the supporters club are critical of Lansdown
Not surprising - it was a bloody stupid thing to do.

You are assuming he had a say, but we’ve been down this road before.. he was the coach not the manager that Nige was.

During the 2016 - 17 season the team playing a high pressing, high tempo, short passing game yielded more points per game without Famara in it.

I think you made a comparison there between Lee Johnson and Nigel Pearson. Finished higher in the league than we ever did under Mr Pearson .. Hardly surprising.

During Lee Johnsons time here the club never established any playing style in the long term, despite spending more money on transfers each season than in any of Nigel Pearsons, and increasing spending on wages season by season versus Nigel Pearson who decreased wages each season.

Lee Johnson was allowed to bring in lavish loans like Diony and Kent to sit on the bench costing the club hundreds of thousands of pounds in wages. Ryan Kent cost City 300K for not to playing him as a penalty clause put into the loan from Liverpool. Nigel Pearson bench this season had a child who was playing in the same side as my kid a couple of seasons ago, players with no minutes league playing time, players from the U21's on a couple of hundred pounds a week.

All of Pearson’s interviews when asked regarding signings, he was happy with the players he had to work with, wasn’t interested in recruiting for the sake of. Felt he had it all under control.. not once apart from after a defeat did he say we were light in certain areas..
As for LJ, his best players were sold on for big profit, I believe he then had to choose from a selection of players sourced by Ashton & co.. and as for Kent, how much say do you think he had in that? I think none, Certainly wasn’t part of any of his plans, hence the lack of games..

I think you’ll find the Diony and Kent loans were forced on LJ rather than him bringing in “lavish loans”. I maintain to this day he had no say in those deals, especially the Kent deal. That was Ashton brown-noseing the PL clubs.

Nige was well aware he had to operate within limits, accepted he had to bring the costs down etc, but was well cheesed off he wasn’t allowed to use some of the Scott money to add to the squad. Imo that’s when all this came to light. SL decided he wasn’t going to allow NP to use the money generated. That was one hell of a gamble with the wellbeing of the club, We were extremely low on numbers, which imo increased the chances of injuries due to NP being unable to rotate players. The inevitable happened, which has now led to us having almost a full squad of injuries in an already low on numbers squad. Madness

Wasn’t it known (I think according to, was it Tinman) that Scott would leave and all the transfers had been done and dusted at the start of the season. I’m not saying it was right..

There was a plan a, and a plan b, a was if Scott stayed, b if he didn’t , those were Tins
words, then when Scott went they drew back and wouldn’t allow any more purchases, instead keeping a “nest egg”.

It was obvious at that point the suits had decided not to back Nige, from them on imo his time was limited. When the lack of numbers then became an issue, they tried to force NP to bring in OOC players to fill the gap that they themselves had created. He told them to do one.
