These are exactly the sort of player I expected Bruce to tap into (oo err). Who had heard of Valencia or Palacios until they had joined Wigan? Now look at them! Bruce is bloody good at unearthing gems.

Yeh hopefully that's true, definitely adds excitement if we're looking abroad... I just wonder if he'll be as successful as he can't bring these players into the PL this time round.

I think it's a case of, if you want to buy talent that's known, especially from this league, you have to spend a small fortune.

Going elsewhere and looking at a probably fairly cheap option of possibly unearthing a great player who will either do brilliantly for your Club and/or make a profit in future sales.

I have no problem with going abroad for options.

I'd sooner we took a chance on this guy than somebody like Heskey whose best days are behind him and would cost a bomb in wages

I honestly don't think I want heskey here, I think he MIGHt still do a good job for us in this league but it's true, it's more of a gamble o wages and health than the german guy.

Bit like matt mills? I'd quite like heskey here if not then fine but I'm sure he would do a job at this level.

This new guy sounds good, we have had a few strikers who didnt do well at city so he would have to much to do well :)

    Why not.

Has a good goal scoring record.
Adds some height to our midget team.
    Probably not overly expensive.

As long has his English is decent enough, go for it ^-^

Joking aside (for the moment) - I really do believe that any Championship side that secures Heskey's signature will have a very very good season ... and that he will be greatly appreciated by the fans of that club, whoever it is, when they see just how good he really is .. admittedly he is unlikely to be the top scorer in the division but his overall contribution to getting results in this league would be significant ... I'm still hoping we will make him an offer .. the prospect of pairing him with Vardy or even sulk pants Beckford is exciting ...

Shucks, you got me there! But you get the gist - he ain't a one-trick pony!! <whistle>

There's a lot of quality in Germany, although a lot of them are not too fussed to play over here. Looks like this agent has been on a mission, just strange it is SB who has been out of the game, although there has been no secret we have been in need of such a player for the last year!

Paul Jewell brought in Valencia, not Bruce.

Yup, agreed he brought him after watching Ecuador vs. Poland in the 2006 WC.

That's precisely WHY he is saying that!!! We have learned from bitter experience to be very wary of old, high wage earners looking for one last big payout.

As the germans are rated second in the world rankings, I would think the German Leagues are worth looking at.
