Took about two years of persuasion to put his name on the children's wing by the hospital authorities before he relented apparently. Said that wasn't the reason he donated half his testimonial money.
The other half went to the children's unit at Our Lady's Hospital in Dublin.

Aye, totally selfless that was. Was never about that it was about doing his bit for a city he fell in love with.

You can’t fault the fella at all.

Great player , an obvious gent, and as a side order , dug us out of the brown stuff too.

As a player you always felt we had a chance, and the same applied when he donned the suit and sat in the stands.
