True. I'll admit I've shagged a granny - But saying as I'm a Grandad meself your arguments kind of a bit **** isn't it?
Going on from having a sensible target - finishing 5th or 6th in the league, I thought that we could use our pulling power to acquire a few out of contract players who would improve the squad instantly. Leicester have clearly a much better squad than us, proven by the fact that they could change about 8 of their outfield players after a victorious European night and still give us a very tough game. Having a better squad would benefit our cup games and have us more resilient at times of injuries. So to keep part of our transfer fee spending out of the stratosphere bracket, I'd target: Defenders - Rudiger or Tarkowski Midfielders - Eriksen Forwards - Origi or Pukki You could pick three of that lot (signing on fee only) and put them straight into our first team as starters or subs.
If we look at places 4th to 7th now, that 50-57 point range would be what we would be in had we had our current form earlier in the season, so that really needs to be our target. 9th/10th is only 3 points more than where we are now, so we need to aim beyond that.
If only we had a manager who could have got the lads to roll their sleeves up, dust themselves down, and put other teams against the pump despite the 19 other teams in the league having 25 world class players in every position.
That's your card marked, you pee taking gentleman My list was obviously just looking from the Premiership, so our recruitment department will be looking a bit wider field for chaps to supplement a couple of top class signings, in the mould of Bruno. Whether we pay off one or two contracts or offer loans to a variety of hard-up clubs, I'm sure the players with no future here will be taken care of. It would be a dereliction of duty to not plan for necessary departures in the summer. Exciting times.
I reckon it will be 2 or 3 on free transfers. Matt Targett and another 2 possibly 3 we sign for cash. New GK seems to have been made a priority by the media. by selling Woodman and Darlow we might get about £7-10m. Some decent free transfers available. Clark will be gone but nobody will be stupid enough to part with cash for him, going to guess Fed probably a goner too and again no fee involved. Think we will keep Dummet around for Home grown quota in case we hit euro conference next year. Will guess Manq as he can play on the left, will stay and they'll cash in on Kraft despite his recent improvement. £5m at the very most there. Will guess Shelvey will be kept, Willock will be kept, Joelinton, Bruno and both longstaff's will be kept (again for home grown quota) but could see them both loaned out. Hendrick will be a goner. Can see both White and Anderson loaned to championship clubs. Murphy I reckon they'll accept offers for and Miggy they will accept offers for. £15m max there for them 2. Gayle has to be Drop kicked out the club and a revamp of the striker options. I could see us considering offers for Wilson (He's just perma injured)
Right now im really not that arsed. I’m quite convinced that we aren’t gonna be in a relegation scrap next season or even having to settle for 17th like we have had to in previous seasons. I’m not expecting to, nor will I be bothered if we’re not challenging top 6…that will come no doubt in the next 3-5 years. My target for next season is to not have to look at a bench that consists of the likes of Hendricks, Murphy and Gayle etc. It’s ****ing depressing when we need to change the game and we’ve already got Bruno, Miggy, ASM on the pitch. We need to have that level of quality on the bench week in week out. Roll on the summer!
