Newsflash, it's done....

The Twitter media are now raining hellfire down on Newcastle fans who don't want Howe or Wilder. Some of the comments are mental - "Howe got promoted loads of times, Wilder did as well, they'd be great appointments". Did we already get relegated? If so, then, yeah, why not.

We are already relegated in my mind.

4 points after 10 games and we won't get more than 5-7 points out of our next 9 games meaning if we don't spend our entire FFP budget on 5 world class player who hit the ground running and settle in on day dot we AND THEN we have to be able to win at least half of the second half of the seasons fixtures - we won't hit 36 points.

Here's 2 for starters

Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard could join Newcastle in the January transfer window, with Carlo Ancelotti prepared to let the 30-year-old Belgian leave. (Star)

Newcastle are planning a free transfer swoop for Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic as the Croatia defensive midfielder, 28, is out of contract next summer. (Sun)

I'm going to put it out there - neither are coming to play for 19th place, Howe-led Newcastle. We won't be getting Tarkowski or Lingard level players with him in charge, which I suspect the owners know (or at least SHOULD know).

Nah, wrong attitude mate - Pearson turned Leicester around after way worse. But I'll say this - if they appoint a useless fecker like Howe and even then dither about it for as long as they have then, yeah, we're ****ed.

This is why it's SO stupid to move slowly. Expectations build, but then on the other hand performances drop. You end up digging a bigger and bigger hole, shrinking the number of viable appointments. Chaos talked about them "getting it right" - was anybody expecting or hoping for a four week delay followed by "AnnounceHowe"? What's "right" about Howe? Nobody would be surprised if we went down with that kind of thinking - you know this, because the media will be delighted with the appointment.

"He's the right guy, loads of experience, looks where Noocastle are, they're lucky to have him". Then, post relegation, "well what did they expect? They didn't support the manager before him, they don't support Howe, these ungrateful bastards deserve to go down".

Villa everton or even man united might have come sniffing around

We don't know, but of course our great fans jump immediately to the view its because our owners are useless.

It's football anything can happen and there's ****s everywhere with lots of money too.

None of them have come sniffing. Utd wanted Conte. As it turned out Ole saved his bacon yet again.

Villa want Gerrard and Nuno.

Everton aren't looking.

We have 11 games till those 2 can start a game,20 pts or minimum 15 needed from those games, can see it happening!

We won't get either of them.

Apparently when Howe was going to Celtic he asked for Josh King and Harry Wilson.

He likes his young Liverpool players and ex players he's worked with. That's where we would be looking.

Can't see it mate, wish i was optimitsic but look at the state we are in

4 points from 10 so far - out of our next 9 games (including Leicester, Arsenal, Liverpool, City and United) Brighton, Burnley, Norwich and Brentford are the only ones we can HOPE to get anything out of. How many points do you see there? Maybe 7 more like 5 if we are lucky - so we'd be sat on 9-11 points after 19 games means we HAVE to win 9/10 games in the second half of the season.

Like I say January can't come soon enough and we'd be better off trying to get games postponed for watterlogged pitches and covid to save as many games for after January IMHO.

As it stands, I think Nuno's the only feasible appointment. Knows how to defend, counter attack (done properly), which suits us right now. And we might be able to get away with it.

"Sure, we've talked to others, but you weren't available at the time and now you are, lucky us."

Completely agree here - Nuno out of the list of others linked is probably the best shout, what happened to Fonseca, people were creaming themselves over him a while back

If you are morally against our being owned by PIF then fill your boots over every piece of bad news

If, like me, you are massively excited by our rich new ownership, then just relax.

They took the chair 28 days ago after 15% of a century’s ownership by Ashley.
We’re mired in the relegation zone. We’re not in London.
Bruce has gone; we were all screaming for that and saying “just let Jones take charge while looking….”
A potential manager may have gone back on his previous soundings - **** him then, but **** happens
The Media here thrives on misery for NUFC but it can’t magically make misery happen, the money will do its work
Amanda Staveley will know if errors are being made and will learn
Relegation isn’t the end of us nor of our ownership
Emery was not the beginning and end of anything other than a potential manager; he’d be just a footnote in NUFC’s inexorable rise over the next decade

There seems to be a lot of doom talk - just try to remember what we emerged from 28 days ago; 672 hours ago.

I’m still smiling. Bigger picture, long game, optimism.
I like this post.

I said Gerrard from the start: even had a bet on it.

I will be underwhelmed by Howe and think it’s to big a job for him if I am honest.

I still think there is a plot twist. Emery is still a possibility.

This is a good point. Nuno might be hurting and wants to prove himself.

Might be a godsend actually.

Not me. I still think Emery will come. Just some persuasion is required.

I must emphasis we have not even offered Emery a contract or even the job yet. Villarreal are immaterial because we simply have to give them £5,5M and that will remove them from the picture.

If today we offer Emery a deal and he says yes, he could be manager by this evening.
