Could be worse mate. Could be Rafa for 3 years making your eyes water from the pain of anti football.
English managers style of play was always lump it up to the big man. This was always made fun of, so we then said let's try and play fast continental football, so instead of Hollywood balls we then directed everything to the wings in order to get it to the big man. In Europe they then played tiki taka, so now we do short passing to the big man up front instead. Eddie Howe mixes all styles in to one chaotic mess.
If you are morally against our being owned by PIF then fill your boots over every piece of bad news If, like me, you are massively excited by our rich new ownership, then just relax. They took the chair 28 days ago after 15% of a century’s ownership by Ashley. We’re mired in the relegation zone. We’re not in London. Bruce has gone; we were all screaming for that and saying “just let Jones take charge while looking….” A potential manager may have gone back on his previous soundings - **** him then, but **** happens The Media here thrives on misery for NUFC but it can’t magically make misery happen, the money will do its work Amanda Staveley will know if errors are being made and will learn Relegation isn’t the end of us nor of our ownership Emery was not the beginning and end of anything other than a potential manager; he’d be just a footnote in NUFC’s inexorable rise over the next decade There seems to be a lot of doom talk - just try to remember what we emerged from 28 days ago; 672 hours ago. I’m still smiling. Bigger picture, long game, optimism.
In a nutshell, it hasn't been a good start to the new dawn. That's all. It's probably not as bad as I'm painting, but it's definitely not been good. This, from the Athletic: "There has been work to do on personal terms with Emery and there still is, with Lee Charnley, managing director under Mike Ashley and still in post now, handling negotiations." Yep, Lee's always been the best at negotiations.
I think that as well. We wanted talks with him last week, but he used a different intermediary to tell us that he was staying with Everton. When he took the Everton job, they were worried that he would do an Ancelotti and leave them in the lurch. He offered assurances that he would stay with them. Since the takeover, we have apparently approached his reps twice. Since then it has been revealed that he has a 16 mil buyout clause. Everton fans seem to think that Rafas head has been turned too.
wasn’t having a dig at anyone Roly, but you know that anyway… maybe not the dream start that usually only happens in dreams, but considering where we’ve been and where we sit (as a side, as a squad, as a club, as a corporate entity and in the table) I am just relaxed-as-**** still
Maybe this is the plan....we look like we're in disarray and every ****er is laughing at us now cos we've sacked Bruce, nowt's changed and we can't get a new manager in cos nobody fancies us due to our current league position/plight. They're probably all laughing their ****ing cocks off at us and thinking we're ****ed and we're going down yada yada yada and then BOOOOOM, up pops Fonseca or Favre.....or dare I say it Ten Hag ! One can dream I guess but, the human rights stuff and sportswashing murmerings have all suddenly died down somewhat. Crisis at Man Yoo and Conte coming in has taken some of the headlines like so thanks has to go to a a couple of the big 6 for taking some heat off !!
No, I don't think so, mate. Charnley is still here, attending meetings. There's still no 'board' appointments. From what Caulkin has said, this has been an absolute clusterfuck by Staveley & Co, who've made such an almighty mess it may be impossible to clean up now until the Summer, which means somehow praying that Jones isn't as dreadful as he seems. Caulkin even saying we were "miles away" on wages. I've always had that niggling doubt that we really have access to a lot of funds, Emery was kind of an appointment that maybe put that to bed. But then you start hearing about the haggling, the lowballing, the fact Charnley is in charge. Oh, man, this is making feel a bit sick to be honest! I can't believe they've got it so ****ing wrong, so ****ing fast! All they needed - and they MUST have known this - was a Chief Exec at the very least (Kenyon type), then if they didn't know on manager get a Sporting Director on board in the first days. It's a ****ing MONTH and we don't even look like we have the faintest idea what's happening. This is going to be a media field day and if Staveley's appearance in court vs Barclays is anything to go by, she's going to start flapping more and more. I get this horrible, sinking feeling that this woman is WAY out of here depth.
I hope you're wrong mate.....very wrong in fact but until we're presented with something to the contrary then it certainly doesn't look promising.
Don't worry, mate, I usually am!! Still, the stuff I'm reading from Caulkin that there's literally three different advisors saying different things to AS, JR and PIF is a nightmare. Within a month of Mansour buying City, they had Cook, a series of senior appointments and several players through the door. Appreciate we can't do much on players, but Charnley in charge of Graeme Jones a month in is not a great look. This Emery thing is a clusterfuck. But I like to rant as pessimistically as possible for everyone's pleasure.
And we love to read it mate for our own sadistic kicks you may even get the odd nibble back anarl ! Fonseca could have been in and taking training all week ahead of the game this weekend FFS!!
I get the feeling Fonseca was advised to, perhaps, Jamie Reuben. A flashy, attacking appointment. But that's only 10% of the vote. AS was likely busy tapping Rafa and getting nowhere. PIF, meanwhile, **** knows. As investors and non-exec chair they should be just sitting waiting. But they're Saudi - they'll want to be involved in everything. I just think they're going to make a lot of mistakes and we're probably going down.
"Hey, Lucien, fancy a job?" "Sure." "Can you ask Ralf what he's up to?" "Will do." "See you Monday" Joking aside, how is it any harder? What options does Favre have right now?
