I was a charity night at the SOL a few months back and I'm pretty sure that SKP said he was now looking to get into management rather than being a coach. I don't think he'd take a no.2 position at a L1 club
I'd like to see SKP be gaffa some day but also he needs to start somewhere and a L1 club would be perfect. My only quibble is if it goes wrong how do the fans react to a Sunderland legend!

There definitely won't be a big name. It will be one of: Cook, Parkinson or Stendel IMHO. The least likely is Cook, although I've read somewhere that he IS interested in the job
Tbh none of the contenders are a big name. Parkinson is probably the longest :emoticon-0110-tongu

These things never end well

After the Peterborough game I mentioned Phil Parkinson on Twitter as a possible new manager. Seeing all the candidates named has done nothing to change my mind.

Anyone who can get us promoted will do for me, absolutely anyone.
Hit the nail on the head there. I don't know what type of manager the squad needs tbh. Kick 'em up the backside, ultra-positive, arm round the shoulder type, etc. Plus I don't know much about the candidates. Parkinson comes across as very mild-mannered and is Ainsworth a win-at-all-costs (whatever the methods) type?

Their is a difference SAFC is a big EFL club , is one of his loves and knows the club really well despite leaving many years ago . He fully appreciates the potential of the club and would be backed to the hilt by the supporters, assistant manager is a step up from a coaching role and would be great experience to take to his first management position . Pearson and Phillips the SAFC dream team ?

What are Parkinson's strengths?

Only going off his time at Bradford when they were in League 1 having taken them up thru the Play-offs. He had the best defensive record in the whole country that year. So he usually has a solid team capable of a few 1-0's. Can manage on a budget as he proved at Bolton where he went 3 transfer windows unable to sign players. Was Bradford manager when they got to the FA CUP s/f beating us and a few other PL sides.
He gets the best out of players with them working hard for each other, an absolute must to get out of this league

My gut feeling is that Pearson would be the right choice. Stendel sounds like a top bloke who plays good football but I've seen enough of our lads to have some scepticism about how quickly he could get them playing sexy football if at all. I see Pearson as the experienced option who is a strong character and who knows how to get the players motivated, like a slightly batshit version of Allardyce.

I'd be happy with either to be fair but leaning towards Pearson.
