I bet allardyce has said a lot of things and then backtracked on his words, I wouldn’t believe a thing he says ( would still love him here) you never know he could come in with Phillips in a remit to get him up to speed with management

If we go down the DoF route I think Sam would be a brilliant appointment

He's made some strange tactical decisions, that's for sure. He's tried a variety of things and several haven't worked. I believe he has been trying to solve the problems.
The bit in bold, how do we know that Ross was afraid to have a go? He came with a reputation for playing attacking football. Why didn't he do that here? Could it be that he didn't have the players to play that way?- hence the strange tactics. Like I said in an earlier post, he can only work with what's available.
I know that we were told he was attacking minded but we only seen a little bit of that in what 3 half’s last season, mcgeady, McGuire, gooch and onien are all attacking players which he should have got more out of but he didn’t. As you know he played onien right back and playing 20 mins in a cup final without a striker are not attacking policies. I know what your saying but you got to admit he never helped himself.

I thought up until January last season we played decent attacking football.
He's made bad decisions on a number of occasions but Maguire and McGeady are the only genuinely creative players we've got and they've not always been available.
It doesn't really matter now though. Someone else will have to try to get something out of the squad and it will be interesting to see if they can or not.

Said it in the golden eagle straight after the game Saturday, well before the game finished actually, last two aways Peterborough and Lincoln, been back in the pub before the final whistle. I'd have SKP and Pearson, either or as manager and the other as assistant.

According to something I've just read:

Applications from Phillips, Rowett and Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink.

Club interested in Stendel, Mark Robins and Paul Cook.

One thing for sure is we need the new man in asap to start ridding the players of the mistakes brought about by thepi55 poor coaching and demeanour of ross. Let's hope he has the time as right now whoever it is will be inheriting a team of ross chokers .

Said on the Ross gone thread, but for me I’d like Stendel. Would hopefully give us the football we were promised under Ross that never materialised.

Latest Odds on Oddschecker

Gareth Ainsworth 4/1
Daniel Stendel 10/1
Garry Monk 12/1
Mick Harford 14/1
Roy Keane 14/1
Sam Allardyce 16/1
Garry Rowett, Ian Holloway, John O'Shea 20/1

From that list I certainly wouldn't want Monk, Holloway or JOS. Micky Harford didn't want the Luton job because he didn't see himself as a manager, so doubt he'll come, even to his home town club.
As mentioned earlier, Cook, Stendel and Robins look more suitable options.

Is Cook the lad who was sacked by Ipswich last season?

Wigan manager. His name keeps cropping up,much as it did when he was a player....for Wolves I think.....we chased him for ages when Butcher was manager I think it might have been.

McGeady, Grigg, Maguire should in theory be far to good for this league, they have played a lot of games under Ross, can you explain why their individual and collective performances have led to the sacking of the manager ?

Now that Ross has left we are getting lists of potential new managers, a lot of them aren’t too surprising.

How far down the line do you think we are to finding a replacement?

Given how critical the appointment is to the future of the club I’d hope discreet approaches have already been made in advance of the decision to move Ross on. I’m slightly concerned that this will not be the case, particularly given the odd timing of the Ross announcement.

How sad that we've had to use that phrase so many times in our recent history.

Unless you've just read it direct from Donald's inbox, it could be bollocks?

Agree totally about those three, particularly Monk, whose dealings with his agent mate(s) while at Boro were a disgrace. He shouldn't get a job in football again
