I think its hard to argue right now that Stoke aren't better prepared for the Premier League than we are.

The question is which will be better prepared in 18 months. Because neither of us are going up this season.
You are right, if you take Preece's comments in context he said “if either of those two clubs go up this season, Stoke would be in a better place.” And then went on to explain Sunderland’s model i.e. waiting 3-5 years for the young players to mature.

So in the short term Stoke probably do have an advantage with their older players.

The video has obviously been clipped so I would have been interested in his explanation of our lack of infrastructure though.

Preece is Sunderland to his core and his comments may have been taken out of context

Graeme Souness (I know he is an idiot) reckons Neil was right to walk because we are only signing players under the age of 24 and that wont work. What I often find interesting is pundits are often ones who havent been in a dreasing room for years, and, and they reflect on their own experiences. Whenever you get a pundit in who is still in the game, or just out, they are much more relevant and knowledgeable. Nearly all of the ones on tele now should be retired off and get a new breed in. Better still, dont have pundits at all and just have the match with a commentator and we can trust our own eyes.
<ok> Spot on

Sums it up perfectly.

It might not be to everyone's liking but we are building a squad on firm foundations that will take time

I wouldn't expect us to be better prepared than them. They had 10 seasons in the PL, followed by 4 in The Championship and didn't have anyone stealing the parachute money.
We slipped through the league and had 2 chancers trying to run the club on a non-league budget. Of course Stoke are in a better position currently......but that doesn't mean they still will be in 2 or 3 years time

Souness was 24 when he signed for Liverpool. The bloke is a clown

We already have experienced players in. Sign good, young players is the way to stay in business. If 1 or 2 come really good the top teams will come calling with top dollar.

I am biased but I would hate to support ant other club. <laugh>

This Michut lad is the one that interests me the most. The lad can clearly play otherwise he wouldn't be in PSG's 1st team (for however short a time) but being dropped from the squad, possibly a bit of Parisian petulance/arrogance suggests he's going to be one that needs careful management. Interested to see how he stands up to the physical battle

Owners are worth a few bob, that is all. They seem to have restrictions on what they can spend though. Wonder how quickly they are freed up a bit?
I read they are under FFP restrictions till next season? Could be rubbish though?

One thing we have to watch out for with Mowbray is the team falling off second half of season. apparently its happened everywhere he's gone.

Aye.

There is clearly a desire to sign younger players, possibly, but not just for better financial reasons.

But this set up has also signed Danny Baaht, Cory Evans, and even LNB was almost 25 when he signed.

Stoke have some canny players, but O'Neill had to more than half their wage bill. It'll be going back up again now, and if Neill doesn't get them up this or next year, he'll be gone.
