Was daft to even think he would want the England job. Doing well where he is...managing his own country. Why take a job with more expectations...some would say, unreasonable expectations.

I suppose it was inevitable that there would be a noise made about the success of Wales and the spirit in which they play, and realise that Coleman has done a remarkable job in fusing the individuals together into a very effective team.
What I did enjoy was Coleman's complete dismissal of the suggestion. He's Welsh, proud of it, and it's the pinnacle for him as a national manager.

You know how little that scores in England's favour. We beat a team of individuals who largely play in the UK leagues, as well you know. And we nearly didn't beat them. :)

Must admit though, the Iceland manager would be an improvement. Don't think he'd be a Yes man. ;)

Don't know how many times Brian Clough has turned over in his grave.

Seb Coe!! Can't do any more damage to an international football team that he is currently doing in Athletics imposing a blanket ban on athletes from certain countries who are presumed guilty before even being tested.

I don't think whoever gets the job will be able to turn that group of ego driven bellends into a team capable of winning a tournament.

Would be a sensible appointment in my view. Just give him the time to develop things his way, experiment in friendlies/qualifying, then judge over 2 tournaments in 4 years.

All the MLS fans I talk to on another forum are wetting themselves at the prospect of getting rid of him...!

(not that it means he couldn't do a good job for England)

You've summed up exactly what I've said since we got knocked out (actually since we came 2nd in the group).

The idea of a fairly inexperienced manager taking on England doesn't fill me with confidence, but the 'experienced' managers we have had such as Woy and his predecessors have been total mince so maybe someone like Klinsmann is the way to go.
Anybody really, will do for me because I don't believe our choice in management is the problem - our problem lies with the country's expectations through the media. Once we realise as a nation that we are just average at football on the international stage, I think that we could all view future performances with a bit more optimism because at the moment we are rubbish as a team so can only improve.
Maybe we do just need a fresh face to start England's revival and someone like Klinsmann could be that face? I hope so, because otherwise it means going back to some of the perennial failures we are used to employing.
In other words, for God's sake, not ****ing Hoddle.

Like I said somewhere else, US fans are idiots.

They think that the US can hang with the big boys while playing attractive football. We can't. We don't have anywhere near the talent required.

The problem is somewhat Klinsmann's own fault. He promised (and still promises) a different brand of football, but fails to deliver on it. The results have been largely good under Klinsmann. But they were good under Bradley, too.

At this point, it is probably best for Klinsmann to go. Gulati is in love with him, pays him a ridiculous sum of money, and will never sack him. I would love to see both of them go, but at the very least that relationship needs to be broken up.

If anyone can get England into shape though, it's probably Klinsmann. Your team/fans are slightly deluded as well. Like us, you probably need to go back to basics and just play boring, fundamental football. But you need to think like you are NOT playing boring-ass football, you're doing something creative and cool and are not at all a second tier side. That's the BS Klinsmann peddles, but it's useful BS.

It's actually the only job that 'Arry could do - no financial responsibility and little coaching. Get the coaches to do the tactical stuff. Would hate him to get it mind you.

England have been playing boring football for the past 20 years though.

Anyway, for me Klinsmann is another accident waiting to happen. We need a motivator, someone who is not scared to kick these boys up the arse.

    I'd go for Allardyce.

Alex Ferguson probably could. Bit old now though. And the last of the old style gaffers.

Papers this morning mentioning Eddie Howe. I'd give him 10 years with a 5 year review. Tell the media we don't give a monkeys what they think, we are going to take 5 years putting a strategy and identity in place, building with youngsters.

After 5 years have a look to see if it's coming to shape and carry on if so! 10 years time, win something maybe.

Howe is young and progressive. He could also work with the grass roots and younger age group teams to form that style and identity.

Sorry for Cherries, but that's what I'd do.

To be quite honest, I think levels of performance from the players and the management in this tournament has embarrassed the nation as a whole and it's going to take some time to repair that lack of pride and trust.

The world cup is already a write off as far as I'm concerned, who ever takes the job is already screwed I'm my opinion. This generation of players just aren't good enough to achieve what the "media" demands, 1 man can't change that.

I really have to defend the players and I know that might not be popular.
If you see a bunch of unruly kids then you blame the parents and the coach/player relationship is not really that different.

We have gone out of our last two tournaments because we've been tactically shambolic. Teams have beaten us because they've been better organised(Costa Rica & Iceland) This all points as a failure of the coach to instill good discipline and a clear tactical plan.

I maintain we qualified to this tournament with a 100% record despite of Hodgson and not because of him.

Quality of player may not be enough to win a tournament, but it's a damn site better than we have performed
