Come on it should be Pearce. It would be typical of the FA and England in general to bottle this and cave in to fan/media pressure. They had a plan which involved ensuring the next manager of England was English, and had experience of tournament situations. The U21 was used as the vehicle to get this experience and Pearce was appointed. We shouldn't be 5 years into the plan changing our mind because it is not the popular appointment.

And if we are absolutely convinced that Pearce is not capable we should go back to Hoddle and apologise for the despicable treatment he received.

Lock out Mick too!

Steve Bruce indeed. I don't think it is fair to subject the man to the humiliation of his oversized head exploding on TV as he fails to understand how the Faroe Islands manager has completely outdone him tactically. Not after having to suffer the humiliation of managing our unwashed neighbours.

As a Scot I can state that the Faroe Islands are actually a world class team and it's only a matter of time before they win a World Cup... <whistle>

Haha I forgot all about that game. John Petersen wasn't it? The dangerous teacher. Aye Berti was not the man for the job.

Drew against them in 2000 and 2004...

One of the matches had England playing on the TV 15 minutes after the final whistle. God it was embarassing sitting in the packed pub afterwards, full of England supporters trying to neck my pint in my Scotland shirt.

Agree, couldnt care less as long as it isnt Pardew. England's problems go much further back than Capello anyway, cant see a new manager doing much better.

Are you sure it wasn't just you that they were trying to neck?

Me. I've got a good pedigree, been in and around the game for quite some time on football manager. Got Stevenage into the Championship and had a short spell with Switzerland, getting them into the Quarter Finals of Euro 2012.

I've already won the World Cup with England. Maybe they want me to win the Euros for them aswell ;)

My bet would be Hodgson.
But there is a key problem with whoever is appointed to succeed Capello, and his name is Stuart Pearce.

Now, everyone and their dog is aware that Pearce is clearly being groomed to take over the England manager's role, but has ruled himself out of the running for now as he wants to gain "more experience" (say, at the Olympics this summer - what a coincidence!)
So anyone who takes over is going to have the same problem Hodgson had at Liverpool with Kenny waiting in the wings - if tits become upwardly inclined, everyone will start clamoring for Pearce.

Personally if Hodgson took over I would be excited. The fact is the guy took Switzerland of all places to the top 10 nations in the world and was doing a quite fantastic job at Finland before Fulham poached him.

And frankly if Hodgson doesn't take over we might as well resign ourselves to losing Pardew. :(
