Surely the weather has been in our favour as well-very few rainy days.Apart from Brexit ****ing up the cost of materials, the only rumour of problems that I've heard is that there were some piling problems in the early days and a threatened crane driver strike, which didn't happen or lasted 1 day. So, we should be close to expected progress.
Whether we flood the site with labour now or draw the whole thing out, it should be the same amount of man hours, if there are no further problems. Apparently the lower floors are already being decorated in parts other than the South Stand. I saw concrete being poured in the pitch area a week or so ago and the roof supports are in situ to go up in the North Stand area, so there's huge progress everywhere. The glass is ging in everywhere which is normally a good sign that things are going okay from my experience.
The Americans were over a few days ago and it looked like smiles all round, so I'm optimistic. Rumours of overruns are typical of the British negativity As soon as the Olympics were won, people couldn't wait to be negative about it being ready in time. As it turned out, we were the best prepared Olympics in years. Levy will have written in bonuses all round for timely completion. It's what he does. More concerning is the lack of actual progress on the new WHL station and remodelling of the High Road and walk from the station to the ground. The ****ing public sector lag in full effect.
As for the money, Joe Lewis has personally guaranteed the borrowing and funding. Spending on stadia is not covered by FFP, so, if he wanted, he could fund the stadium and then take the money back out of future profits. He won't but it's nice to know that's there as an option.
Surely the weather has been in our favour as well-very few rainy days.
Leave RCL alone, he's got enough on his plate making sure we continue our good form without taking responsibility for the stadium build!Sssssshhhh, or RCL will be after us. ****ing British weather. Grrrrr.
Consideration was given to the weather at the design stage. Almost all of the concrete is pre-cast by a specialist contractor and shipped to site avoiding weather (rain and temperature delays). It also ensures better quality concrete (strength wise and visual).Surely the weather has been in our favour as well-very few rainy days.
In other stadium news, Chelsea's new stadium is to be delayed by a minimum of 3 years. The intended opening date moves from 2021 to 2024 with Chelsea Chairman, Bruce Buck saying that further delays are possible. Shame that. Could it be that nobody wants them during building works?
Chelsea are suggesting that there are 8 possible temporary venues for them within the M25. Doubtless, it's part of their 'negotiation strategy' for dealing with Wembley. So that would be..........
or the only real option...............
- Twickenham - wouldn't touch them with a bargepole
- Arsenal - see Twickenham
- West Ham - see Arsenal
- Crystal Palace - see West Ham
- Queens Park Rangers - Desperately short of cash, despite hating Chelsea, they might do it. Expect fan uproar, so maybe not.
- Fulham - See Queens Park Rangers
- Brentford - See Fulham
It's been suggested that Chelsea have approached us. No, really, it has. That must have been the shortest conversation in history............."No. **** off. Goodbye"
- Wembley - If they can get the Council to agree to a likely 5 year occupation by the scum........not very likely given the furore over us being there for one season.

They're not the owners, though. In fact, they keep taking the owners to court all the time.Chelsea are suggesting that there are 8 possible temporary venues for them within the M25. Doubtless, it's part of their 'negotiation strategy' for dealing with Wembley. So that would be..........

It reminds me a little of the Coliseum and by the time they build it the Roman Games will be back. Did I say Roman ! LOLWhat I don't get about the Chelsea stadium fiasco is...........it's a fiasco and nothing............I mean NOTHING gets said about it. I read articles in at least 3 newspapers on the subject.all of them were the same wording that was given out by Chelsea. Not one 'journalist' thought to ask "Why?".
Not one said, "It's no ****ing wonder that they can't find a temporary base for 5 years. Why the **** did they come up with such a ridiculous design?" One of the reason that most stadiums look similar is because they are fulfilling the same function and subject to the same pressures - time, costs, returns, practicality. Coming up with something with a build-time akin to Gaudi's cathedral is MENTAL. Particularly mental when the only place you can use as a temporary base is not going to want you for half of the estimated build time. You might as well plan to use fairy dust and unicorn horns as the main building material.
How much has Abramovich paid the reporters of Her Majesty's Gutter Press to ignore this and Boris influenced them to turn a blind eye to the ****ing disaster that is The Taxpayers Arena? If our new stadium comes in 1 day late, there's going to be a **** storm the like of which nobody's ever seen before. I guarantee it.

Top notch rant. CK approves![]()
The new stadium looks ****ing ugly that's for sure. Reminds me a bit of the eyesore that blighted Portsmouth (and that was one ugly town centre when I lived there), the Tricorn Centre:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tricorn_Centre
It's like something out of a 60's architects rejects bin.
The Tricorn got knocked down shortly after I came home I believe (possibly started to knock it down while I was there) in 2006. I was around the Milton area so not far from Fratton but generally never went there except to watch the football when mates teams came down (god I have seen some dire matches there!). If we drank there, the name of the pub escapes me but for some reason Magpie rings a bell but god knows why. Might be what is now the John Jacques but thought it was nearer to Fratton Park than that.
I'm 5'6" so rugby was very much out of the question! Liked to play when I was at school but lost the love for it when I once went past the school rugby team captain on the wing too easily so he grabbed the neck of my shirt and threw me off the pitch (high tackle ref!). Left a huge red mark around my neck and the PE teacher did eff all.
