Pellegrino in or out?

A little more than 3 hours after posting we have 34-6 in favour of out - a whopping 85% <yikes>

The players are underperforming but I don’t think they can be good enough. Redmond, tadic, long, Austin? At a push good enough for mid table. If they don’t perform then relegation flirtation.

Tadic had the 3rd most assists across his first two seasons in English footballer... about 7 sides in the league would jump at the chance to sign him.

Yes, the squad has issues, still midtable for me though.

Up until recently I was still putting tadic as one of the first names on the sheet. But he has been poor for so long now. A player that can only play with Pelle is not much use to us now. What do we do, sign a player in the pelle mould and hope he re-gains form?

Tadic hasn't been great this season, he hasn't. But I still think he's been easily better than Redmond. And, as I keep on saying, I cannot justify him being dropped until he has first has a chance back on the left. A player underperforms in a position that is not their best? Shock horror.

TLL is bang on. There are huge issues with this squad, but it is a darn sight better than what has been produced this season. I'd suggest we should probably have about another 10 or 11 points on the board, based on the fixtures so far.

Sorry I don't normally tell people what to think but it's hilarious that @Ian Thumwood has voted in <laugh>

Compared to last season when he said he didn't see things getting better under Puel before the Summer window even shut <confused>

Why is it unbelievable? I have already spelt out on another thread that it is too early to make a decision. The mess is something he has inherited and not of his making. Judge him after the January transfer window.,

Amazing to see you have instigated two polls since this afternoon on this subject. Are you an obsessive?

To be honest with you, there weren't as many people asking for Claude Puel to be sacked this early in the season.

Didn't realise that you were about 14 years old. Never mind. . :headbang:

I know you're not that's my point, you're willing to give him some time which is fair enough and everyone has a right to hold that opinion...

Yet in AUGUST last year you had already decided that Puel was a mistake, and that you couldn't see things improving under him. Also stated that unless we changed (again in August) that the season would be a massive struggle.

Also the classic that everything about 'The Frenchman' gives you concerns.

So why weren't you prepared to offer Puel the same patience that you are with MP? This is my point - It's hypocritical as ****.

And I'm 12 actually <diva>

EDIT: By the way I changed (while you replying I assume) 'unbelivable' to 'hilarious' <ok>

Definately out for me. I can accept the results if I can see an identity and style of play that the manager is trying to implement, but I have seen nothing other than throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. Today he went back to his original (unsuccessful) formation of Shane up top, Tadic on the right and Redmond on the left and guess what, we never looked like scoring with just 5 goal attempts and none on target.
Surely he can see that Long up top on his own and Tadic on the right are NOT working and his faith in Forster must be questioned also.
The team has played almost zero meaningful and purposeful team football this season other than square and along the back or just slinging hopeful balls into the box from deep.
I have seen not one hint of improvement from pre-season until now and the confidence of the players is clearly evaporating, we need a change sooner rather than later IMO.

BTW I think that the quality in the squad is potentially top ten and could be higher with a couple of top signings ( a creative #10 and a Targetman Striker in the mould of Pelle/SRL).

to be fair, Forster is the only keeper we have. if you look at the likes of Liverpool, our fbs are as good as theirs, so are our cm pairing of romeu and mario, so are our cbs, our keepers are probably on par as well, they have an excellent 4 up top, but the main difference is down to tactics, they were 100 per cent all game where as we can barely put in 5 minutes at a time. its painfully clear that this system does not suit the players and puel had the same problem, Les needs to change the system or change the players

Anyone decided who they want to replace him yet? Me and 5 others would love to know... Eric Black can be caretaker while we sort it out. Currently 1 vote for Koeman and 1 for Emery.

Don't have a clue, which I alluded to early in the thread.

The club are always telling us that they are constantly monitoring managers though aren't they?

I am never a fan of not giving people a chance, however the OP asked for my gut feel. That tells Me right now, not good enough.

I'm like you I like to give people a chance and it just doesn't seem long enough. That said he doesn't seem to want to try anything new even though it's clearly not working. I haven't voted as I'm still dithering. Before today, I was keep him, so I don't want to make a knee jerk decision, not that what I vote is going to make a difference! <laugh>

If he does go then we need a clear out of the first team coaching staff. It seems to work better if a manager brings in their own people. I also don't care if we sell VVD and Bertrand. Get some money and freshen up the squad we aren't going to get anywhere this season so it's an ideal time to change things.
