None of the players are convincing me that they will stabilise the club and end the horrible uncertainty which we've had increasingly over the years.
Off the pitch he seems a top bloke; shame about the odd game he manages to fit in between suspensions.
Cawley is usually accurate and he's reporting that in response to an increased offer of £11m, Tommy has increased the price to £12.5m. Sandgaard and Douchbag are attacking Charlton in a pincer movement.
Seems like a lot of take over activity all over the Charlton forums, while we were all doing other stuff . Just scanned a couple of places - the general verdict seems to be the takeover is agreed depending on the final contract bring signed. I genuinely can't get my head round paying over 11m for a loss making club in league 1. The good news is it seems as if we may have new owners when the window opens, which is when we"ll get a taste of the new owners' ambitions.
Agreed. No way is our squad worth £11m, and there are literally no other assets. Only costs. Still it would be great if we get some clarification on CAFC ownership today...
I'd like to like this more, but I remember back in the day when RD was looking to sell, and in the face of a lot of optimistic fans, Reams said 'be careful what you wish for'. He was right. We've had years of stagnation and poor management, but the incoming owners are a mystery, and we've all found out that words like 'Premier in five years' are meaningless when all that is behind them is hot air. I saw on CL today a few people saying the new takeover would be bad news for the academy. I have no idea if that is true, and I doubt if the people discussing it do either, but that is one of the few things that has given the fans any pleasure lately. Scrapping it would rub a lot of people up the wrong way, and suggest the incoming owners had the same view on Charlton history as Katrien Meire did ('I don't care about history') and they'll need to be very succssful in a short order to offset that sort of gaffe.
Worth pointing out that Charlton fans did not get what they wished for - which was Duchatelet to sell the whole of Charlton Athletic and go away. Him retaining all the assets and becoming Landlord of the Valley was nobody's wish. At the time we only celebrated the arrival of ESI because that lying slug Matt Southall told us they had bought everything - "lock, stock and barrel". When he hadn't even paid his 35p for CAFC. For me Duchatelet is still the problem, and his son as well now. Charlton Athletic will not recover until that family is out of the Club. And we need the Valley bought back as soon as possible. If RD junior continues to torture us after Roland passes away, I think we should begin to seriously consider AFC Charlton.
Too many people think it is not important that The Valley is owned, I do, we need rid of Dushitelet to secure our long term future.
THing is though, the present position is only going to lead to administration, just a question of when. Zynex has plummetted in value, and Tommy's Plan A and Plan B have both conked ahrt, so anything different at least offers some hope for the future of the club, even if that hope turns out to be misguided. We'll only find out when the takeover goes through.
No idea how concrete this is but people on CL are reporting that people battling it out to aquire Charlton have walked away and TS's dream of autioning the club to the highest bidder is gone.A guy called Swisdom said that the Turkish interest faded away as TS didn't reply, which is pretty bizarre behaviour if true from someone trying to sell something. Also reporting a problem is the transfer of the lease of the Vallet/SL from TS to the new owners. No idea what but maybe Dushatalet deels he could charge more rent to the new owner, although that may mean he gets stuck with an utterly uninterested TS remaining in charge. Finally, Varney tweeted elsewhere that another problem is that RD is massively out of the market with his valuation of the Valley, and coupled with TS asking for 12m for a loss making project, the whole enterprise is a fiscal nightmare. We may not be getting new owners in for this transfer window unless TS wakse up to reality, although I'll be happy to eat some humble pie if BB's claim about a quick sale by jube 14th comes true. At least other buyers walking away may focus TS on trying to get this deal done as quickly as possible.
