You could be right but I've heard that said before about high profile people and I think it is a bit different the higher up the chain you get. You have to ask yourself that when he is sat on his private jet flying to Miami to watch a basketball game with his family and friends does he really care what John from Brazil Street in Hull really thinks of him? I would wager 'no'. But on the flip side does he want to sit there listening to chants of 'Acun Out' at games, of course not.

Rather than 'care' what people think of him I think it is more a case of 'needs' people to follow his plan otherwise the atmosphere is counter productive to the team and the half empty stadium makes attracting players and sponsors very difficult.

You have to remember he is paying for pretty much everything so he doesnt 'need' the fans money or support, he just knows it is is important to get the success on the field. I've worked for an owner who literally would not care if the stadium was empty as long as he got pie and chips, some Black Sheep in his fridge and he got to watch the team play in peace. He probably prefers no crowds if I am honest. He pays around 1.8 million a year for that privilage and is still doing it now with a 22 million investment into a club going backwards. People worth hundreds of millions like Acun and that guy I mention do not care about being liked, they can pretty much do anything they like when they like. Something most of us will never be able to understand how it feels.

I know a lot of very successful people, none of them would dream of taking a pop at any of their employees in public and all of they (to differing degrees) are conscious of how they're perceived and their public reputation.

The secret to a successful life is learning not to care what anyone else thinks. It is the only way to make it to the top in any walk of life. I imagine, like you, Acun is far from delicate and will not give a stuff what people think of his comments. He lays his cards on the table and is transparent.
Imo, it's an attribute that might help at times, and hinder at other times, but I don't think it's "the secret to a successful life", or even near say the top 3!! :emoticon-0105-wink: Another thread perhaps? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Me too, but I think when you get to the levels of hundreds of millions in the bank they care less. Man Utd fans were lapping it up when Jim Ratcliffe critisised the work from home culture at the club and ordered them all back into the office. Mike Ashley is known for making similar statements.

I'm not saying it is correct by the way, I just feel that the higher up the chain you go the person is more likely to have less regard for what people think of their feelings and will carry a 'my way or the highway' stance.

Of course Rosenior shouldnt care what anyone thinks. His job is to win football games, not change it because the fans dont like it. He failed at that but to his credit he didnt care what the owner thought and played players that he felt would be better. He lost his job for it but you can safely say he did not care what people thought of him including his boss. He stuck to his guns....but failed the task.

As many have said on here, had we got to the play offs we would not be having this conversation, I believe Acun said as much but cant be sure on that. Rosenior will do the same in his next job in terms of ignoring what others say about his football and so he should.

What strange mental gymnastics. So now he's being praised for being stubborn?

And as someone else said Acun has made it pretty clear he cares what people think.

Mike Ashley is a complete cock, he's made a point of deliberately pissing off everyone he can, but he's the exception rather than the rule.

What we have to remember here, is that most of these people are paid amounts of money we can only dream of, even at this level...

But its also probably fair to say he hasn't got where he is today by being nice to people..
