I really don’t think this will be the case. The majority of pro-Rosenior were happy because they were pointing to the progress we’d made in his time at the club. Clearly they weren’t as vexed about ‘exciting football’ as the people who were anti-Rosenior. (Although I really dont remember being bored that often). If Walter doesn’t look like he’s taking that progress further, regardless of how exciting the games are - I think that’ll be fair criticism. If it looks like we are pushing on towards the top six, I assume most will be happy enough - as that’s what they were happy about before. If we are challenging for top 6 or higher - I’ll be happy. If not I’ll be frustrated by a change that hasnt had us continuing the journey up the league. Regardless, everyone needs to give it a few months before deciding on anything, which wouldn’t be different for me with a new manager or if Rosenior had stayed as regardless we’ll be integrating loads of new players.
The ones that moaned loudest about Rosie, will 100% be the first to moan about Walter if things don't go well, twas always thus.
I think there will be a few told you so’s before that as people cannot resist in this sport doing so.
So Walter is now close to been the new manager , wasn't he close to been the new manager about 2 weeks ago ?
I would bet good money those that complained about Rosenior’s style of play are going to get whiplash when they see Walter’s. Those who like Rosenior and his play style will probably be more willing to take it on as it’s basically the same at its core
Mm, I disagree. Rosenior’s brand of possession football was often boring and overly-cautious. Ranking 1st in the league for touches and passes in our own third isn’t a good stat. Walter’s style of possession football seems to be more expansive, fluid and direct in the final third. His Hamburg team looked a lot braver in possession from what I’ve seen.
and if we win the first 5 games of the season therell be a few told you so's too! i hope we win the first 5 games of the season and its a sunny august feels ages since we played
I think the fact people are talking about each other and themselves on here as Pro-Rosenior and Anti-Rosenior says it all really. He was a good coach and manager but his comments around his style of play (when in defense of it) really hasn't helped in polarising the fan base... Not that we needed any help with that on here
This was how close Walter was to getting HSV promoted last year btw. Heidenheim ended up winning the league with HSV 1 point behind in 3rd (this was the last game). It was also a very dodgy penalty too by all accounts.
