It's a bt more than just an anodyne, fluffy statement. He didn't need to go that far, and what he said seems completely different to what we've been told that Carvalho had no choice but to go over Rosenior's head. I'm sure one of our experts will put me right though.

I have no idea if anyone complained to Tan or not, but at the time it was claimed, the players specifically mentioned were Morton and Carvalho.

I think the quote goes further than your standard goodbye, he clearly liked Rosie.

I don't think Acun is a great owner at all but as he's followed Ehab he does look significantly better. He's a great PR and media man, but his footballing decisions have been poor and he's said a few things which give cause for concern. The lack of investment into the infrastructure and facilities will always annoy me too.

I think compared to most football club owners he's brilliant. His football decisions are questionable and over time that might cost us on the pitch, but his energy and passion are wonderful and just what the club has needed. As OLM touched upon, the change he's made to our crowds cannot be understated. I think it's a genuinely significant step in the history of the club how he's turned it around from where we were before he took over to where we are now.

I think you can only judge his investment in facilities over the long-term. If like the Allams and Bartlett he gets access to PL money and doesn't make anything of it then yes, it'll be time to criticise. Right now he's only had a relatively limited time and has spent as much money as possible on getting us promoted, which is probably the right way to go about it, providing we don't shoot for the moon and see it backfire.

And on the training ground thing, I think it's become a bit of a cliché that everyone repeats without actually knowing much about it. They mentioned some big improvements to the training ground made last season which didn't get much recognition outside the club, but it sounded like the players and LR were happy with it.

His biggest investment and the one he deserves most credit for, is the sea change in the support of our club. Free kids tickets, some of the lowest ticket prices in the league, free away travel, taking hundreds of people on holiday, none of these things made him money, quite the opposite.

Why do you think he is doing it then?

Because it was absolutely the right thing to do, the support had been decimated by the previous owner and reversing that had to be a priority for any new owner. He's managed to do if far more quickly and comprehensively than anyone expected and deserves credit for it.

And some will read that in a way that supports their own already formed opinion. I would say it's just fluffy words thanking the manager of a club where he was on loan, saying he learnt some things, the manager was open to discussing things and that him getting the sack came as a surprise.

He was under no obligation to say anything to that extent, it wasn't even an interview with the HDM it was an interview about him trying to get into Liverpool's team. He could have just left it as "I had a good six months at Hull City and I wish them well for next season with their new manager". He went well beyond that.

I think partly because he likes being liked. Who doesn't? That doesn't mean he did it to make money. Didn't Tan say in an interview that if he could, Acun would make tickets free, but Tan has to remind him of the financial side of things?

Surely we can't go moaning at Acun for that ? In his excitement and want to please he's made som daft decisions, Shota being the worst, and some silly transfer business, but he has without doubt supported Rosie in giving the bloke the tools to mount a serious challenge for promotion, the failure to do so why playing at times a somewhat slow paced style has unfortunately lead to Rosie going. The next chapter whether it's Walter on not will no doubt be given Acuns full support again. He's trying his best to bring the feel good factor back to the club which has shown in the increased attendances. But we mustn't forget, he is a businessman after all, his silent backer Mr McVitie, is a businessman, they will ultimately want a return on their funding. I can personally live with that, the bloke is trying, ya cant ask for more then that, but to start slating him for failing to invest in the training ground etc is bang out of order imho.

Tbf thats not down to the facilities though is it, and if my memory serves Bowen joined us from Hereford I think and had already been developed to a decent level

As I was part of the discussion I'm reasonably sure of what was said and no one blamed Acun for where we're currently at, just that we aren't taking steps to correct it after over two years. The Academy and senior training facilities are different things.. Which was actually one of the things Acun said he wanted to address by bringing them together.
