PCP? I live fairly close to an ex-council estate, it's full of £20-30k cars. Nobody's telling me they're all bought and paid for. Someone else I know used to sell 2nd hand cars. He says half his customers didn't want to know the purchase price, just 'how much a week?'.

When satellite TV first came out the estate with the roughest streets round my way was festooned with satellite dishes, or squarials as I think they were referred to then.. The “posh” areas weren’t. I knew the fist installer of them in town who remarked on this. He asked me round to watch City play at Middlesbrough in the first match shown live on satellite television in some tin pot trophy. We started a long tradition of losing televised games by duly getting beat.

You watch, we'll win tonight and everything'll be fine again. It's what we do.

On the other hand...

Don't get this sucking up to owner
He didnt buy the club to benefit you or i

Either as a rich toy or to make money in other ways
Youd think city fans of all would be more wary about owners

I can’t believe that comparisons are been made between Acun and Ehab.

One wanted to bring players through our academy with the sole intention of keeping him in the lifestyle he’d become accustomed to via been fortunate enough to be born into a family that had built their fortune mainly via worldwide disaster’s, whilst the other has built his own fortune through his own hard work, personality and probably a little trickery along the way, and who’s main objective is to see the club ultimately successful in the highest possible league in the world.

The latter may have displayed some early naivety but personally I trust him to eventually get things right.

Get a grip!

FFS!
Sorry mate I don’t

Newcastle, Chazz - how do you see it going then? Why do you not 'trust him to eventually get things right'.
I don’t see him taking a step back from the football side. Which will limit the level we are able to reach. Brought in a bunch of players who don’t want to be here and maxed out our spending means. Giving little to no room for recovery in January. Just got to hope the quality can pull through.

Players returning from injury who are currently big misses plus a hard tackling midfielder in Jan and we'll be fine second half of the season.

im not sure that’s true. Just as an example, Greaves has had a stinker of late as well, and I bet if he was a foreign import playing how he has the last month or so people would say he doesn’t want to be here either. We’ve clearly got an imbalanced squad with zero confidence at the minute. Hopefully a new manager can instil some confidence back into them as well as a couple of defensive signings in Jan. Fingers crossed

In his recent interview he clearly states that he doesn't want to be involved in the footballing side of things. To my mind, it stands to reason that he can't continue to be so involved (because of all his other commitments & interests). He's an incredibly successful business man, and must know that to maintain success you need to surround yourself with very good people and let them get on with what you employ them to do.
He clearly made a mistake with appointing Shota and with the scatter gun recruitment. I suspect he's learnt some painful lessons - the silence on the current recruitment is likely a sign of that. Hopefully the next appointment works out and he can leave the new coach / manager & his team to it.
Rome wasn't built in a day. He won't want to fail with us.
But only twt.

I mean recruiting players not picking the team. I never once believed that was the case for a second

His view of what constitutes 'right' might be changing as we speak. If he still wants PL football he's got to extend his timeframe by quite a lot, he might not have patience for that. If he's prepared to accept something a bit less ambitious, say survival this season then a couple more in the Championship I'm sure he can do that.

Makes sense, acun definitely felt some egg on his face after Martin's. I've been out the country for a couple of weeks on business so haven't had chance to catch up or speak with people at any great lengths. I still get the feeling the aims to have them in place just before the world cup break at the very very latest
Make some enquiries.

The guys clearly has access to more money than his "net worth" suggests.

Surprise surprise.

Some green-eyed monsters further up the thread it seems. Rich man buys boat after buying football club - at least I hope that's all it is anyway... Big deal.

Some will still say he's skint though cos flying about in a private jet wasn't a big enough clue that google isnt particularly accurate about someone's net worth if he doesn't actually disclose it.

And before people start with 'why buy that when we need defenders' that's when FFP comes in to play. He'll be spending to cap boat or no boat.

For all the cop that Acun is getting, it’s actually Tan that runs the club on the day to day. So if any of these conspiracies about Acun picking the team were substantial, it would be Tan doing it.
And Kesler isn’t doing that either.

I'm generally still very happy with Acun and Tan and don't think they should be getting as much stick as they are. On the team thing though, looking at all the evidence I think it really does look like they're insisting on a particular shape. Shota clearly preferred a back 3 with this squad, but suddenly changed for his last game, they then had a fallout and suddenly were no longer aligned in their beliefs or whatever it was. The Athletic reported that for the Luton game Shota had planned a team involving a back 3 and worked on it all week but that was scrapped when he was sacked, and we played a 4 instead. We've played a back 4 ever since, even Sunday when we had no left back and three centre backs on the pitch we still shoehorned it into a back 4. Really sounds to me like the fallout was Acun saying we have to play a back 4 to be more attacking and Shota disagreeing.

The conjecture seems to have spread around and set in as 'fact' now then?

I do find it amusing that some people actually seem to 'need' a villain or a conspiracy theory to latch onto, or best case scenario, doom and gloom. There's so much of the season left to play. Just calm down.

Someone saying Allam made his money through disasters but Acun did through hard work. Much as
I am not an Allam fan it is a good job that his generators were available and were of more use to people in tricky situations than a TV show. You may as well sneer at Smith and Nephew for making its money from ill people.
