Daws has received the ****ty end of the stick, just like at Scunny. If he was going to turn it around I think we'd have already seen something by now. We'll still leaking a similar about of goals per game and still look pretty toothless going forward. As much as the defence is a problem, relying entirely on Oscar is too. Losing Tetteh and Allayhar to injury really hasn't helped.

As stated last week, my understanding is that we'll see Daws in the dugout for a while yet, and I'm pretty gutted about it, more because it will ultimately lead to his departure from the club, one way or another, and there's not much he can do about it.

I feel as if Acun is prepared to have Dawson till the World Cup to let the manager have those 4 weeks as a mini pre-season. Logical thing to me would be to get someone in ASAP, let them see the team and then have the 4 weeks to build on it.

It's not just us taking time over appointing a manager. Suspect timing is to a certain extent dependent on other clubs/prospective managers making decisions first.

I was excited and very optimistic when we were bringing in players like Figs, Seri, Oscar, Pelkas, Sinik, Tetteh, etc. Now I'm doubting that any manager could get a tune out of what we've got available.
I'm thinking it's not so much about replacing Daws but more about getting to January so we can hopefully strengthen with the type of players needed for the championship.
Getting Allahyar, Tetteh and Fleming back will be good but won't make a massive difference. Hopefully Traore is something special when he's finally available, but none of those players really plug the big holes we've currently got.
It's ridiculous that we're talking of relegation but without a good window it's where we could easily now end up.
Main point, it probably isn't so much about whether it's Daws or ano.

Any manager/first team coach (whatever the term is these days) worth their salt will want their own coaching staff.

That's what concerns me regarding this latest young Turk that we've just brought in. I know hes worked as a coach, analyst and scout so could be for any of those roles, but a 'top' manager would likely want his own.
I don't fear too much for Daws. At worst he'll likely slip back into the Academy. No way would Acun dump him.

Was we good in the first half or just better than the second half, we went in 1 down. As the home team we are expected to be on the front foot and we only had 2 shots on target in 90 mins.

I felt we were much the better team first half geo. But i get your point that we didn't create much. However i think there is improvement although they need to keep it up for both halves

It's always going to be difficult when individual mistakes are costing us games, players need to take responsibility imho, you can have the best plans in the world but if they don't do the basics ya not gonna get far.

I dont think its that bad. We're crap at the moment but with Shota and an inexperienced Dawson as manager plus a load of injuries, we are where we are. I think a decent manager will be able to save this season along with a couple of sensible transfers in Jan, a tough tackling midfielder and a championship level centre back along with Allahyar, Tetteh and the young arsenal kid for some creativity. Should slowly start to climb the table and then hopefully the new manager is given what he needs in the summer to fine tune the team into what Acun wants, a promotion winning team. Right now we're nowhere near, but I dont think we're bad enough to be relegated, we just need a good manager to get a tune out of them.

In terms of injuries, we can't really use that excuse anymore. We have most of these new 'exciting' signings now playing, yet we're no better.
I'm not panicking (yet), just talking about how crucial the January window is and that whether it's Daws or ano is secondary.

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh - a miss for sure
Adama Traore - no idea
Brandon Fleming - a marginal miss as we have had Elder (i'd prefer Fleming, but there isn't much in it)
Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand - no idea, and too much to pin hopes on a kid (as we saw with Vale who looked lost)
James Scott - who?
Josh Emmanuel - a miss but has been out for so long he doesn't really count in this sense.
Vaughn Covil - should have been progressing with the academy as a possible for the future. Not a game changer at 1st team level
Benjamin Tetteh - a miss.
So really, that's now only 2 players that are deffo misses for us, maybe 3 with Traore. Most clubs will have as many if not more missing.

Shota was a likeable guy playing his own way but clearly out of his depth and has done untold damage to the confidence of individual players and the team. I like most have the utmost respect for Dawson but I don’t think he is the one for us now. We need a new manager in ASAP who will I still a team discipline where the team plays for each other. There are good players here for sure but they don’t look like a team. Stupid rugby defending was always going to cost us. I5 did last year and we are at it again. When did our defenders weigh in with a goal headed from a corner. We need leader at the back to organise the defence and another to do the dirty midfield work. Oscar will lead the line ok. January for me these signings are imperative. Lastly the Allams were poison for the club and it’s fanbase. Acun is a decent man with a real passion for the game and the City. Ok he might have made a few errors , missed a couple of crucial targets, but all in all it’s only the start of it for him and we should really support him in what might be a difficult learning period.

No disrespect to AD, but now is the time to bring in a new managerial team, Manager and his own coaching set up, a unified leadership team to look over what they inherit, and instil a decisive, cohesive, disciplined message & style of play/identity to work with what they currently have available and get buy into. Kick ass where needed. The Doc alluded in his post match interview to City having no identity. We need a positive change in the leadership approach, and we need it damn quick.

By bringing in odd job coaching staff to help a caretaking AD cannot be positively helping, too many mixed messages, the culture, identity needs buy in. With all due respect to Robbie Stockdale, who has ploughed his coaching around the lower levels, I can’t imagine the mercenaries in our squad paying much respect to him.

Kind of, but the two you mention as definite misses are absolutely huge. Allahyar and Tetteh both work incredibly hard up and down the wings, which worked well with Oscar because he also worked hard and the three of them were really putting pressure on opposition players with their closing down and dynamism. Now that two of those three are missing, the replacements aren't stepping up. It's no surprise that since those two got injured, our attack has withered and Oscar is now barely scoring at all, looking isolated and feeding off scraps. Those three are higher level players, players who could play in the Premier League. Other teams might have the odd big player missing, but to a team like us, their absence is felt so much more because they were the crux of our attacking play. Getting them fit will be paramount to our success.

Traore would make a difference through the middle, but it's hard to say with him being out for so long whether he would have had an impact or not.

If I was Allahyar, I'd give the WC a miss and focus on getting fit. He's only 21, he's effectively got at least three other world cups he could play in if he keeps playing well at a good level and he isn't going to get picked if he isn't fit and playing. Has to think long term here, which is difficult at a young age.

Yep. They weren't brought in as back ups, but it's hard to deny which pair had more impact on the team. Sinik will only improve and Pelkas hasn't looked too bad, both are just in the team and haven't looked too bad, but there's more to come from both of them.

I thought Tetteh was very deliberately a back up to Oscar? I don't think the plan initially was for both Oscar and Tetteh to start?
