Was probably Alex.
Before that maybe Keegan, Dagliesh, Graham at Arsenal? Pearce at Man C? O'Neil? O'leary spunked a lot at a couple of clubs.
It's a good point, but I think it's mainly because the bigger spenders have been on the whole international owners, impose international coaching structures and international coaches are more used to working within that structure.
If you're Abramovich in the noughties do you :A - bring in a multi-tier recruitment, scouting and development system then sign Mourinho, or do you employ a Steve Bruce, Greame Souness, Bryan Robson, Peter Reid type and give them an open chequebook and simply **** off back to your Yacht?
Graham Potter.
They have to earn the right get a shot at the top clubs. Potter has done that. Couldn’t name another top English coach who’d have a chance at one of the top 6. You’d think if they were good enough they’d get a chance but they don’t. That’s not a coincidence.
Are Brighton top spenders? Potter is a good coach.
Or the fact that the most talented coaches domestically didn’t have glorious careers so have noses turned up at them and end up in the depths of the football league trying to imprint their modern styles on sides with zero ambition. Example: Brian Barry Murphy who’s now Manchester City’s u23 manager. He managed Rochdale whilst we were in league 1 and attempted to implement a modern style but fell foul to the lack of quality in his squad but clearly Pep Guardiola arguably the greatest coach ever feels he’s a good coach for developing players to make the step from youth football to mens in his style. It isn't a coincidence it is due to foreign owners.
Carvalhal is a great coach and no boring press conference with him.
But he's working so...
It will be interesting to see who is 'in the crowd' on Wednesday night. If there's a face sitting next to Tan, hes the man. No face then Daws has got em for Uddersfelt, and who knows beyond that.

We need the manager to speak the same lingo as the defence by look of it
You lucky bastard. I've been to Side several times. Stayed in the hotel on the front which is in the Chinese style also the one with the statue of Aphrodite on the roof. Beautiful beaches and promenade.
Potter doesn't manage Brighton.
QPR look brilliant and Beale didn’t have a professional career. Brum look pretty solid too under Eustace. Plenty of them out there just a big gamble in the sense of appointing them as it’s rare fans get on board from the start. But I believe times have changed and this is the way forward now.Adrian Barry at Chelsea is another example, though he’s never managed, he has a brilliant reputation for coaching young lads and is currently working with the Belgium national team.
It doesn’t have to be somebody out of work, money isn’t the issue, it’s finding somebody that’s going to coach these players properly and get them doing the basics right.
Stoke look a total mess. Shame we made them look decent the other night. We should have got Bilic, Watford are 3-0 up at Stoke. (It isn't a cold Tuesday night though).
