It would be a crazy good appointment, he probably deserves another crack at the PL.
It was the type of appointment I expected us to make when Acun came in. To have these massive dreams yet bringing in Shota who's CV was okay, but nothing special

Not what I’m saying at all. I was happy for Smallwood to be let go but I expected a ball-winning midfielder to be signed as a replacement. We didn’t. We couldn’t agree terms with Ndayishimiye then we just moved on and signed Woods who is the opposite of a ball-winning midfielder.
You just wonder whether Acun is putting any pressure on The Coach to play certain players irrespective of their current form? I find it both bizarre and a little intriguing that Arveladze was pushed at the 11th hour,there was little or no reason this didn't happen a fortnight ago.
Any incoming manager with any self respect and decency will want assurances that they are solely responsible for picking the team on match days.I could be totally off track here but something stank about the way that was done yesterday.Did Shota walk,was he pushed,did he refuse to carry out an instruction based on team selection...I'm just a little suspicious about the events that led up to Andy Dawson being pitched in to the deep end at such short notice.

That may have been the case 20 years ago but most owners nowadays would probbably be asking questions if the bulk of their investment isn't on the pitch, or if they spend a lot of money and go backwards.
Theres a difference between a manager and a head coach. Our last traditional 'manager' at this club was probably Bruce or perhaps Silva.
The role has changed over the last couple of decades with foreign ownership and then some domestic owners structuring the club the same way, as Ehab did.
For most continental managers, that's the norm. There are very few 'Stan Ternent' types who had control over everything left in the British game at elite level.
A head coach is basically tasked with training and getting the most out of the group he's been given on a matchday. A technical director of you will. Of course there will be consultation in relation to recruitment, but the majority of 'managers' don't have the final say in recruitment anymore, and the majority of owners would be querying selection and tactics if things aren't going well after a spending a wedge.
I suspect Acun will be employing a 'head coach' as opposed to a 'manager'.

Smallwood was not what you suggest, he was actually fairly good in what he did, it was what he could not do that was his problem. We would not have lost some of these games recently by the scores we have if he was still here. I agree we need someone better at what he does, but name one player at the club right now that can do better in that role?

That's the oversight that will make us relegation candidates instead of playoff candidates. The sooner Acun and Tan accept this so they can rectify in January the better.

I'm starting to wonder how much Shota was brought in as someone Acun trusted to smooth a transition as opposed to being brought in specifically because of his record.
If you believe the chatter though, he wasn't the first person approached during the takeover process.
In 2016 we averaged 17,199. Wednesday averaged 22,641. The following season we averaged 20,701 in the PL whilst Wednesday averaged 27,129 in the Championship. Funny decrease. In fact it was a larger increase than we had.
They've always had "millions of fans worlwide".
