An experienced Championship Manager does little more than that - just keeps you in the Championship.
Acun has higher ambitions for "his beautiful club" and doesn't want someone who is experienced in delivering mid-table obscurity only.
I’d take mid table at the moment. We look like a bottom 3 team destined for league one. Another Shota type experiment and we will be in League One.

I can see disaster on the horizon if we appoint a Turkish manager with no experience in the Championship. This next appointment is critically important, if Acun wants to keep this team in this division.
Not a dig at you GLP but what’s the obsession with Championship experience?

Wilder and Bruce both know the champ like the back of their hands and have better squads than us…

We are supposedly a project and need someone who wants to build something. A lot of suggestions I see on here would be managers that bring short term stability and nothing more. We need clear identity under a modern coach who’s got a track record of improving players more than anything. The top 6 is made up of 3 managers who are currently in their first job in England and then 2 with parachute payments.

Mid-table obscurity would be a fantastic achievement this season. With it would come, for Acun, the reality of real football versus media hyped fantasy dream football. He can then sell up or start living in reality.

So he decided to bring in his 'friend'(who probably isn't 'his friend' anymore) and we now linger at the bottom of the table?

Kesler himself said he and Acun don’t have the patience to build a squad over several years/transfer windows, which is why they had a scattergun recruitment policy and talked up a top 6 finish. 16 new players, many of which are high-earners and high-profile, yet there’s no replacement for Smallwood’s crucial role. It’s very haphazard. I hope this can be a learning curve for Acun.

Why do we need a manager with championship experience?

I’d rather have an unknown like Marco Silva compared to experienced championship managers like Carlos Carvalhal, Tony Pulis, Mark Hughes, etc

Would you say no to Tuchel cause he doesn’t have championship experience? :emoticon-0102-bigsm
A lot of success come from hiring managers with no experience in recent years. Farke, Wagner, Coberan all examples of this. We need a proven track record of improving players not a history of managing in the division. Turning our noses up at foreign coaches is really ironic considering how long it’s been since an English manager won the top flight.

Who at the club is going to identify these young up and coming foreign managers who have
never worked in English football ?

He doesn't want relegation either - and at the moment that looks far more likely than promotion

Carvahal is a very interesting one. Off the back of 2 very good stints in Portugal left wanting to find a new project and seemingly found himself in the Middle East. He’s got “experience”. Would personally be very happy with this appointment.

I don't get the big ****fest over smallwood at all....he was ****e thats why hes in league 2.....agreed we need someone with a bit of bite in midfield, but Smallwood is not the answer

Smallwood was never the answer, but realistically, he’s the only decent player we’ve had since Ashbee to play that role. He’s not been replaced.

Yes but our other "Unknowns" have been Slutsky and Shota - hardly inspires confidence that we'll find the right "Unknown" does it? Even Silva's stint with us ended in glorious failure.

Obvioulsy not - because he is used to managing at a higher level than the championship. What I - and maybe others- are worried about is that we hire an "unknown" overseas manager whose level of experience in managerial terms is at a level beneath that of the championship

I think many use Smallwood as an example G, but we need a much better version of him. He’s at the end of his career now. Besides looking at the team at the moment we need 2/3 bringing in to balance the team better. The spine of the team doesn’t look that strong to start with.
