I think we need someone to unite the club again.

I don’t see Karanka doing that, nor Pearson.

Struggling to spot who I can see actually doing it.

    I’ll go.

He only once before went to a club struggling with issues with ownership and finances. That was Hull.

    It didn’t go well.

He had a defence working well with funds. I think it's more likely lots of 0-1 defeats under him. I don't rate him at all.

Here's a name to throw in the mix.

Word is Tony Pulis might be about to get the chop at West Brom.

He'd be a dream manager for Ellis Short

I don’t want Karanka either because I can’t understand a word he says.

He would be ideal in the current situation. Winning ugly is absolutely fine with me.

Stats don't mean jack **** without knowing the detail behind the numbers mate.

So he did well in a **** league.

How much money did he spend getting those good Championship stats? Because he won't have the same resources second time round.

I'm not against the guy particularly by the way. I just don't think he's the man for the job.

He just doesn't come across as the guy to take the bull by the horns at a time when that's exactly what we need.

I'd be happy with that but I don't think he'll get sacked, and if he was, I doubt he'd come to us.

We're not Middlesbrough though. How many managers have come to us with previous records which are far greater than they achieved with us

    Grayson 44.3% to 16.7%
    Sam 37.6% to 29%
    Dick 36% to 17.65%
    Gus 44.3% to 30.67%
    PDC 56.8% to 23.1%
    MoN 42.11% to 31.82%

Means nowt to me fella. I've seen his teams play though and it's very poor, and I know he's needs money to build a 1-0 team. Not for me. Not even close.

Pulis on the other hand can tighten up on no money and a much longer history of doing it. Can string a sentence together too. He'll only need to bide his time and he'll walk straight into a better job than us so won't get my hopes up that he'd be interested

See I dunno, this of course would be the biggest club he’s managed and he might fancy that if he got us motoring he could take us far.

He’s never struck me as one put off by a challenge or to shirk, he might be exactly the right man.

That said, I’ll be stunned if they sack him they’ll have really ****ed up if they do.

They don't care either mate, you'll know when the bookies know the new manager by the price, usually around the day before appointments. meantime the market itself will fluctuate almost entirely on money placed and it doesn't take much to slash odds. It's more of an opinion than a betting market at the moment.

Money will fly on Reidy tomorrow. Close to favorite by the end of the day I reckon.

Peter Reid would be interested in the Sunderland job
There have been claims that few would want the job at a club in crisis with no scope to make major signings to strengthen.

But that is not the case, with a number of managers in and out of jobs telling the Starsport that they want to take charge.

Former Sunderland boss Peter Reid, 61, would not hesitate to return.

He is currently assisting Paul Cook at promotion-chasing Wigan Athletic.

Former Sunderland striker Ally McCoist, 55, also wants it. He is a season ticket holder and was interviewed before Grayson was appointed.

And there are a host of other candidates, including former Rangers and Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish, 58, Southend’s Sunderland-supporting manager Phil Brown, 58, and Shrewsbury’s up-and-coming boss Paul Hurst, 43. Former Boro manager Aitor Karanka is also on the list.
