As mooted elsewhere, Eddie Howe says he wants to stay at Bournemouth....we all know what that's worth (slaps hand, must not tar everyone with same brush). Not particularly bothered as I feel EH isn't quite what we need at the moment (although this view may be changed at short notice and without warning if he joins us :)).

Sensible manager. His method works at Bournemouth, and so far, it doesn't elsewhere. He's lucky he got a second chance at it and he's smart enough to realise that. If he came to Saints he could be out of a job within 3 months. Head and heart pulling in the right direction. Not experienced, successful enough, or of sufficient stature for our needs.

I've got to agree with you there DTLW. From a purely personal point of view this is the type of manager I would like, he says everything that I tend to agree with.

Doesn't mean he'd be a good fit at Saints or that they are even remotely looking at him but he is exactly the type of 'under the radar' thing we have a tendency to do as a club.

He gets my seal of approval, which basically means his career is finished :emoticon-0102-bigsm
 
Poch got sacked in his only managerial job and Ronald has been sacked in a few players, so a sacking doesn't concern me.

Sounds like a character, but someone very thoughtful about the game and with ideals similar to that of the club.

Of course, lack of funding and losing players overseas is different to England.

Pretty much everyone over here is loaded these days, compared to the continent.

This is the sort of intriguing left-field appointment that gets me excited.

If it is De Boer, this is rather a conservative appointment. He might be a safe pair of hands but not really radical. IMO the club chairman and Les should fly out to New York and get Patrick Viera. He would be able to attract players with just that little bit more oomph than De Boer. Bound to be more expensive but surely that would be more than covered by the new tv deal, increased exposure on the international stage (Viera is extremely popular in Africa and would result in increasing shirt sales there whereas De Boer wouldn´t) and incoming fees for players who move over the summer.

Patrick Vieira who coaches NYCFC? He was a great player but I suspect he has a lot to learn as a coach. I was at the Yankee Stadium last month watching his team get gubbed 7-0 by the Red Bulls. My impression was that the standard of coaching in MLS must be piss poor if that game was anything to go by. So no.

I admit to some odd ideas. It´s the hot sunshine that does it!! Whoever is appointed we shall all have to suck it and see.

Good luck to him and I hope he can guide that great club back to where it belongs at the summit of European football. Seems a lifetime ago when they used to take Manchester United apart on a regular basis (69, 2007 springs to mind) put Barcelona to the sword in Athens, deservedly got revenge against Liverpool in 2007. And if things don´t work out there, and the new Saints manager flops, I for one, would welcome him with open arms.
