i hear ya, but he always seemed a decent guy and you dont get 70 odd points in the prem if your a mug. If he came to us with a few scores to settle along the way then all the better.
Villas-Boas is the antithesis of the British football archetype: erudite, well-bred, and achingly modern and, consequently, he was a natural target for that shouty, xenophobic media core who are still in thrall to the way things were. I love that sentence. We'll have him I think. I'll let Mr Reed know.
Did he do that with Teams he had Inherited though ? Can he build a squad , convince players to stay ? I simply don't know , just asking .
good points but i'd be up for letting him have a go. As the article suggested he seems tailor made for us.......
Isn't it a fresh change to be selecting from a shortlist of managers with international pedigree and a history of winning trophies as opposed to say ... ... well, Paul Hart?
Update from K Billy on SaintsWeb... 'Forget about AVB and FDB both are way down the shortlist.' The plot thickens...
Lots of bits floating around about him not wanting to leave Bournemouth, though. I could get behind Eddie but I still think this has the feeling of a left-field appointment like Pereira.
I must admit, I am wondering why the Echo suddenly dropped Vitor Pereira into their article. He's come from nowhere and they're the only ones linking him. Hmm....
When I asked my Portuguese brother in law about AVB and he laughed at my suggestion of him being a bit meh he firstly stated that he beat all of Mourinho's porto records including being unbeaten for the whole of his first full season and I then suggested "Yeah but Porto would have already had a pretty good squad from the previous manager" to which he laughed again and replied "No, Porto's best 6 players were sold and he had to rebuild"
