Schumacher fits the possession based approach of the club. Both Rosenior and Walter relied on this the players are arguable relatively adept at it. Schumacher offers versatility that Walter lacked any understanding or and that Rosie never had to deal with as even in our slumps we were okay. Schumacher has a style of play (or an approach) but is willing to change formation and adapt to what is needed in the game, varies between a 4 or a 3/5 at the back. That adaptability might be what we need right now, low on wingers and struggling to keep a clean sheet lends it self nicely to 3 CBs and wing-backs. He also had Plymouth playing some really nice attacking football. We might not see the attacking football at first, but much like Rosenior did I think we would initial aim to make us more solid before working on the next stages of progression. For any manager theres a few aims, solidity/clean sheets, play to the strengths of the strikers available and get something out of Giles.
Schumacher has 3 years managerial experience, just 6 months of that in the Championship. Is he really what we need just now?
Why does it all have to be possession based. We’ve been down this road. Sign a strong big man smash it to them and get players around them. That’s what I say!
Who ever we get there will be plenty of moans plus who ever it is as got a tough job with our forward line and a few weaknesses elsewhere. Our best hope is a good organiser and hope he can get us to the transfer window not adrift of those above us.
Yeah I seem to think he’s been decent everywhere he’s been other than Sheff utd, but we won’t hold that against him
No recent experience in the Championship, he probably had better players at Watford and Fulham. I’m not sure this would be the best appointment.
