Cor blimey can't believe the hate going on here. Having a wife who is a designer I see how this stuff works.
You can't just take a logo and "photoshop" it to fit your design, you get given the exact images you can use you can't change aspect ratio nor colours there are probably stipulations on which of the logos they would accept on the shirts too. Also to put a huge white panel on there would be a nightmare you'd have to use very thick print to go over 2 brights colours which would then be liable to break up & crack.
I don't know what the people who hate it want to be honest if you want the half n half design there's not much else you can do. Without seeing all of the design brief for their logo it's hard to say more but knowing how the industry works....
